I was looking to get some more Rodinal but it seems to be out of stock everywhere! There is a 120ml bottle on eBay but it’s £14! It’s always been £15 for 500ml before. Is this a brexit or a covid thing? Might have to go back to ilfotec hc for a while

Amazon uk have 3 bottles available 500ml for £21.95

£8.48 delivery :( same as on eBay, it’s coming from Germany. Guessing the uk has dried up. Not that I don’t like ilfotec hc but it’s twice the price

Hc110?

£30 ish?

how many films can you soup at 1+31 ?

A rough calculation based on needing 1ltr of solution would allow deving of 30 films.

iirc a 35mm film requires about 300ml solution so a bottle of concentrate would give you about 90 films!!!
How cheap do you want it? :wideyed:

It’s not the cost per film, rodinal and ilfotec have similar dilutions, 500ml of rodinal at £15 as ilfotec hc at 1ltr for £30 it’s the outlay. I don’t develop that much so a litre is way more than I need, that’s why I prefer the 500ml at £15

Process Supplies had some of the Fomadon R09 variety a couple of weeks back.

Or simply sit back and wait for stocks of the developer you want , in bottle sizes that suit and at a price that you’re willing to pay to be replenished by suppliers ! :)

What kind of help is that? Sit back and wait, that’s hardly the right attitude for a film photographer is it? We want it here and we want it now!

..or an opportunity for a family to start a business and to get a licence to make Rodinal here......assuming the makers can't be bothered to start a small factory in the UK.

AG are saying the tetanol paranol is also the same as Rodinal but they haven't got any of that either!

Agfa Rodinal has now been replaced by Adox Rodinal. The formulation and developing times are exactly the same - only the packaging has changed!

Acutance enhancing film developer

RODINAL is produced acording to Agfa Leverkusen´s latest Rodinal* formula from 2004.

My Rondinax needs 200 ml per roll, that works out at over 160 rolls, or under 20p per roll!

That calculation also explains why after 2 years, I seem to have scarcely made a dent in my bottle of HC 110 (although tbf the marbles hide the dent...).

i can soup one sheet 10x8 , two sheets 5x7 or upto four sheets 5x4 at a time in an orbital with 3ml concentrate.

i usually soup each sheet individually regardless of format.
Even individually, a 1liter bottle of hc-110 offers me well over 300 developments so not even 10p a time.
Stop and fixer last forever.
There’s little reason why home developing of b&w neg film cannot come within the budget of most people.
Even the outlay of hardware doesn’t have to be huge.

Very interesting! I've seen strong advice on one of the websites discussing HC 110 to NOT use less than 6 ml of concentrate for one roll of 135, which is roughly (counts on fingers) 60 square inches. You're getting excellent results from 3 ml for 80 square inches! Worth noting; this would allow me to use some of the weaker dilutions with the Rondinax; currently I've been assuming that Dilution B was the weakest I could go, using 6.2 ml!
