Yes
So Rod Stewart is coming back to the UK, I did not realise the meaning of the lyrics of sailing. He was actually singing about being free from Tax was he then

Christ, that's all we need another crusty crooner, mock jock:rolleyes:

I wasn't aware he'd been away lol

Have we all forgotten about him then? Must admit I can't even recall the last song I heard of his..

That's because he's been pish ever since he went to America in the first place and he weren't that great before he went there neither.

Last time I recall talking about him and is songs, was chatting to my sister in my mums house. My sister loved him with his raspy voice, my sister left home over 35 years ago, and that's the last time he got a mention in our household!

I remember him blubbing at Celtic Park recently.

I'd bloody well cry if I had to go to Celtic Park too and kill myself if I had to go to Ibrox!!

It's OK, they're going to be living in Essex. Hard to imagine what it must be like having primary school kids at 69 mind. o_O

He will be OK picking the kids up from school, he won't be mistake for the children's grand parent as everyone will probably know who he is, or will they?

He ruined The "Small" Faces.

No he didn't! That's not fair! Roderwick might be a dweadful old ponce, but I think it was listeners to a Danny Baker programme who voted early Rod the best voice in British rock - and they weren't far wrong!

His early stuff with the Jeff Beck group and then the Faces is really good, IMO. Most of his solo stuff I could happily live without.

This is his best effort imo.

I went to see Rod Stewart live at Wembley Stadium during the mid eighties and to be honest he wasn't bad. But then I'd only gone to see ELO who were on the support bill. Looking forward to Hyde Park in a couple of months to see ELO once again even if they will be minus a fair few former members.

Love this, one of my all time favorite songs

I like a Rod and his music a lot You're in my Heart was one of the first records I ever brought. Sailing has also been one of the soundtracks of my life too. Very poignant when your standing on the flight deck and you're on your way home.

Actually while we are all posting our favourites,
I'll add mine :)

Just now looking at photos of him, and he has not changed much over the decades. Just don't seem to have heard that distinct raspy voice of his, for what seems like ages.

To be honest it's all been down hill since Maggie May

Blimey, have you been baring a grudge since 1971? :D
1975 actually when he murdered the Isley bros song 'this old heart of mine'. A sad day indeed :)

It couldn't have been all bad as Ron Isley duetted with him :D
TBH, don't like either version ;)

Must admit I only liked a couple of things he did, Baby Jane was one of them.

EUGH!! That and Sailing were about the biggest pile of crap he did for me, most of the rest I like, have always enjoyed his stuff since being a kid.

Just went to YouTube and had a listen to Baby Jane. Not nearly as good as I remember it. Or maybe my taste has changed

He's not moving his money back to Scotland I see. :sneaky:
I always thought he was born & bred in North London, His dad being a Scot (Hence the surname) And his Mum a North Londoner.
So no real surprise there :D

I refer you to Brash's post post above. ;)

Yeh, she's moving here too.

Not that one, second post in the thread. :sneaky:
Yeah I know :D

I was just saying that a "pseudo Jock"
was as likely to move his money up there,
as I was :D
