I was there today testing the car ( will get some pics up ASAP) I saw a fair few togs there, snapping away. Anybody off here? I was the guy with the small camera snapping away at anything :'(

Rockingham is a great track. Unfortunately I couldn't explore too much as i had to be in the pits ready.... As soon as I figure out how to get RAW images off my camera, I'll get them up!

How easy is it to get ino Rockingham to take pics and what is it like with regards to barriers/fences everywhere?

Rockingham is awful awful awful.

The circuit is good for indycars, at 200mph on the oval. The infield used by BTCC is a featureless, flat mickey-mouse circuit.

Photo opportunities poor as well unless you have a long long lens or press pass. You can get to the viewing area on top of the pits and nab cars on the start finish section, coming off the infield onto the oval. You can shoot through the fencing at the Tarzan hairpin and thats about it.

If you climb up into the stands you can get over the fence, but the cars tend to hug the outside wall of the oval which means that you can't get good shots.

I hate Rockingham...

Thats not entirely true. Its not flat, i've been round it as a passenger in a few cars. Although it is featureless. As for been mickey-mouse..i think theres worse tracks, but its certainly not the best.

That though is true. Photography at Rockingham is not very good for joe public with cameras with not alot of zoom.

:)

We've been round it in our F3 car in proper racing conditions, and have a double header at Rockingham this summer (joy!). Its considered by virtually the whole of our racing club to be the worst circuit on the calender but the one with the best facilities (even if the outer paddocks are a long trek from the inner paddock)

It is pretty flat, there is a bit of landscaping, but nothing that excites a driver like Paddock Hill Bend at Brands Hatch, Quarry Corner at Castle Combe, The Mountain at Cadwell Park, Craner Curves at Donington...

yeah..the facilties are pretty good..even though everything is as far away as possible from everything else.

Much prefer those circuits you said too. Thankfully Donington is only about half hour drive from me so thats the circuit i visit most. And the one i like driving the most too.

:)
