Robyn's 52 weeks 2011 Theme: Chaos

Accomodation:

"The forgotten graveyard"

Accomodation by Foxy Robyn, on Flickr

".... The majority of these gravestones read the details of hundreds of people who died in the 1800's.

I call it "the forgotten graveyard", as nobody ever visits this section.... of the cemetery.

Sadly the weather was very dull and wet, but I think that adds impact to the conditions of the gravestones....

I like the idea and the ruined church fits the scene very well. Shame about the metal fence.

I think this shot would have benefited from B&W conversion. The grass's green is very vivid and works against the bleak theme of the photograph.

I think shooting later in the day with darker sky and using tripod instead of flash would have helped too.

Hiya Robyn,

Well done on the first theme. The idea of a grave being accommodation hadn't even crossed my mind and fits the theme well.

I agree with RedTele's suggestion of a b&w conversion, it would add to the mood and feel of the image. I would normally associate green grass as resembling life, which doesn't seem to compliment the image/subject.

It is a pity about the fence, but not much one could do about that except to perhaps take the photo from another position and different angle to try to exclude the fence or blend it in.

I also agree about using more natural light than flash would benefit the image.

Good start and I look forward to seeing the rest of your 52 in the coming weeks.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Sadlyt he metal fence is all the way around the church as it isn't safe, so it wouldn't have been possible to get it from a different angle without the fence.

The images were taken about 3/4pm. It also started pouring with rain, lovely scottish weather lol
I did try it in black and white as I thought it would have also suited the theme. But i'm not 100 percent sure if i like it in BW.

I shall post some more images that I took in the graveyard.

Hiya Robyn,

Thanks for posting more pics of the shoot.

Personally I prefer these two:

Colour by Foxy Robyn, on Flickr

BW by Foxy Robyn, on Flickr

In the first above, I think the colour works here and compliments the photo.

The second of the above has a haunting feel about it which I like. My only comment would be is it looks a tad too dark, and I think it would benefit from a light adjustment.

As I previously said, this is a good analogy of the theme. For the purpose of the theme I think it is safe to go with the images of the graves without the church, although I can see where you were probably coming from by including the church too.

Well done

Cheers

Great idea for the theme. I reckon it would be worth an early morning visit when there's some mist about. It would look really atmospheric with mist swirling around the gravestones.

Spooky by Foxy Robyn, on Flickr

This image was taken on the same day and time as the others.... Their was only 2 images out of all of the images I took that had a ghostly feel to them....I think their appears to be a face on the right hand side.....

My GSD (dog) also kept pulling me away from the graveyard.... spooky.... lol

OMG this is just brilliant! I get goosebumps when I look at it and yes I can see the face on the right SPOOKY!

I think your GSD must have sensed something too. Did you notice the face when you took the pic or only notice it when processing?

I can see I'm going to have nightmares tonight now

Cheers

LOL I noticed it when I zoomed in on the image on the camera screen and tried to get some more shots, but nothing "unusual" showed up.

It really strange....Zara (dog) does not like this part of the cemetery, however she is fine with the other sections....

Luckily enough it started pouring with rain after I took those images, so I had an excuse to leave. lol

Are you still having nightmares.... lol

Theme: New
A New life.....

Like butter wouldn't melt..... by Foxy Robyn, on Flickr

Isn't she just addorable. :)

I went to my friends at the weekend and she is a GSD breeder/shower. Several other people were also there with their pups and they were having a "puppy party" to help socialise the pups.
She was one of them and her name is Blaze.....

My sister in law is also especting a baby and he/she is due in the next few weeks.... The baby would have also fitted the theme :)

Hiya Robyn,

Awww, bless Blaze is absolutely gorgeous and looks like she has been having some fun in the snow :)

Lovely photo and I think you have got it spot on here.

Now I have an image to stop the nightmares

Cheers

Dawn :)

Blaze is gorgeous and focus and lighting spot on. I would have tried to take the face out of the centre of the shot slightly but thats me being picky. Well done!

B&w for me us cool. I bet you could get more from the sky with some pp. In no 1.

May not be practical but a shot from higher so the lh gravestone didn't obscure part of the church would be good.

Cheers.

That is a great shot... his ears are huge..

Superb shot - reminds me again how much I miss my GSD even though she died nearly four years ago.

I love this shot, great capture, the snow all over his face is just brilliant and he is looking straight at the camera - perfect focus :)

I have had several ideas for the passed few themes, but sadly as a result of poor weather, being busy and ill I wasn't able to do what I wanted.... A self portrait....

I am lagging behind... I shall post this image instead....

I went to Avimore on the 22nd and 23rd of January to a sled dog rally....

Style.... stylish

Most people get this breed of dog.... for the wrong reason, like some sort of stylish icon, because they are pretty.... with their wolf looks and blue eyes....

Trying hard to catch up.... My baby neice was born over two weeks agoa nd I had planned to do a photoshoot with her and use that as my "open themed" topic, however I haven't managed it. :(

So I have done something totallt different to try and catch up.

Open theme

My OH got these bottles of Jack Daniels for his Xmas and I am basically surprised they haven't been "opened" yet!

Hello there
That is one cute puppy for the new theme. The way she is covered in snow makes me think that she might be a bit of a handful. I like your B&W graveyard shots as well. Taking those photos in the dark might have made them a bit more atmospheric. I don't blame you though if you don't want to hang around a graveyard after dark.

Hiya Robyn,

Wow I really like your OPEN pics ..... the way you have positioned them is great and I like the angle at which you have taken the first of the two. The 2nd looks like it could be for an advert and has a sort of 'beach' feel about it. Both well composed and the lighting is good too bringing out the colours. Like the background too, it compliments the subject. All they need now is to be opened and consumed :D

Your HARD photo is soooooo cute :)

Cheers

Dawn :)

JD, OMG, unopened JD, sacrilege!

I really like the composition of #1.

The ghostly accommodation are nice as well, if a little sad "The forgotten graveyard", like so many others.

Your new life is wonderful, the expression and eye contact are fab...

Cheers.

Hi, Robyn, I can't see clutter in your clutter post, I'm afraid. It's too tight, blurred and I'd advise you to reshoot, if you have the time, and use a tripod.

Baby feet, always a winner. I'm on my work's PC but the white towel (?) is gray. I believe exposure comensatin can get around this??

Also, the composition's a bit off for me, a bit too central. Perhaps have a go at cropping in some way.

For your trio, #2 is my favourite, but it's not a trio...I'm loving the composition, movement and tongue

Your first trio is a good one, and I really like the look on the middle dog's face, s/he's not enjoying standing still... Tad of the right to balance it up might help and would put the alsation's head in the top right third.

Cheers.

Hiya Robyn,

Well done for catching up.

I have to agree with Andy's comments.

I'm not too sure what the clutter photo is so can't really comment.

I think the tone of the baby feet pic is out and seems very harsh for such a delicate subject. Perhaps a crop to alter the composition and then a bit of a soften and maybe adjusting the tone could improve the photo.

I like your first trio shot, very cute indeed, and agree about a crop on the right as Andy mentioned.

The three separate images are great as individual photos, but as a trio it may have been an idea to arranged them into a triptych (although that could be a bit tricky as 2 are landscape and 1 portrait).

Overall well done.

Cheers

The three seperate images are for the theme chaos, not trio. :)

Thanks I shall edit the images. :)

It's a tiny waterfall... that leads onto the river. :)
I just thought it looked cluttered... the way the water was flowing... :)
