Currently on holiday in Greece and while we have internet access (fairly obviously!), it's painfully slow and unreliable. Does anyone have any suggestions as to which UK company does the best deals and allows the fastest (or anything above a crawl...) access.

It does also have to be said that while all the web is at a crawl here, here (TP) is by far the worst site, probably due to the number of pictures over the forum's rules' size but also down to assorted advertising links (which I know are what funds the place) which can make accessing the front page a large post.

Apparently, it's not that easy here to get a PAYG SIM as a tourist - we've tried for phone access on the cheap!

If you are on a public WiFi network then that can be very low. Only so much bandwidth and too many users.

As far as a dongle goes I use a MiFi from 3. I get 3G where other networks struggle with anything. OK the unit isn't cheap, but the advantage for me is that it is a hub rather than a dongle. which means more than one device can access it at a time.

If it would work in Greece is another matter. I don't know if or who they have as a partner there

Also don't forget the EU capped roaming charges, for voice, text and data in July this year from July,

OK a bit of an update

Did some digging and it seems that you can get prepaid sim's from WIND outlets.

Not sure how good coverage is though. Info 1 year old from Lonley Planet

Cheers for that John. It's a private network but still slower than a Hyundai Atos climbing a mountain!!! I'll look into assorted options when we get home but it's no big deal.
The problem is mainly with TP - the multiple quotes of photo heavy posts eat into any data allowance rather quickly...

Home tomorrow anyway. ( :( :( :( )

Your on holiday in Greece but can't find anything better to do than TP :shake:

Generally during siesta time or while at the bar sipping on an Ouzo!
