RIPPED OFF UPDATE

Surely the rules are there to protect buyers and sellers alike?

In this case clearly flaunted by two parties, OP and "seller." Buyers methods are questionable and at best naive, and hopefully, good things come to those who wait (to plagerise the black stuff from Dublin)

However the rules are there for a purpose.. likewise Ebay strongly recommends not ending auctions early and buying outside the auction site (now whether that's due to loss of fees or buyer / seller protection is qustionable)

Doesn't that only apply to sellers?
Buyers do not need a post count.

My point is that as Shell has sold stuff here so she knows that one has to have a 100 posts to be able to start a sales thread.
So based on that, if she didn't pay the person who advertised the goods then she should have walked away from the deal rather than pay j4m13 directly.

It seems to me that most of the time a deal goes wrong in here, neither parties have made an effort to read the rules and fully understand them.
Every time I sell an item, when I send a pm to a member with regard to make a payment I add 'As per the forum rules' then my details.
The rules are based on commonsense, they are not hard to understand.

Recently due to the problem Shell is having, I noticed someone selling at item for their 'cousin', as this does not count as an immediate family member, I reported the thread.
The thread was pulled and the member started a new one saying they didn't know why their thread had been pulled.
I risked a slap on the wrist and posted in his sale thread that perhaps he had broke the rules.
I also sent him a message explaining exactly why it had been pulled.
A quick reply from him saying 'thanks for letting me know' would have been nice, I thought I was helping him but perhaps he had the arse with me.

I don't think it's questionable, if a seller and a buyer decide to deal away from ebay, all ebay get is the listing fee, they want every penny they can get.
I've done it before, had a better offer than I expected to get from the final selling price, I agreed proving the guy paid cash and he collected.

With regards the seller get slammed, he chose to broke the rules, he did not send item in a timely manner, he gets what he deserves.

Hope it gets sorted.

Paypal (& Ebay) are very specific as to what should be used for what......... so I would favour Lord Lucan winning the National on Shergar over and aboard the dispute centre being of assistance....... however nothing ventured, nothing gained. For the purpose of an email or phone call what is there to lose?

Use of the PayPauper account, due to contravention of the user agreement? (Gift payments are not supposed to be used for paying for goods and services, but it's apparently not  to pay for stuff found on't interWeb if you can get away with it.)

An escrow fee could be £50 for a transaction value up to £5,000 which makes the PayPal fee competitive for transaction values up to £1,470, though protection for off-fleabay purchases has been available for less than a year, and I don't know (and haven't read about) anyone who's used it.

I think that HiddyBiddy was expressing an opinion that anyone who dispatched an item before it was paid for (as you suggested) could quite rightly be considered to be an utter moron.

Demilion would you be confident to send the cash first, intresting to know what justification you would have for this, we are warned and warned about great deals, to good to be true's this could prove to be a classic case, your explanation of what was meant by HiddyBiddy's post is hallucinogenic at the very least.:), i suggest you get some help (nurse he's out of bed again)

Standard practice on A/V forums for people with no feedback to post items before payment. And very few people get caught out by it, unless of course the buyer is also a low or non feedback buyer.

Exactly what should happen with a member with no itraders,

i agree i should of asked for his full details but saying that he could of given me a dodgey address so i am to blame for that too? j4m13 and whittie know exactly what they were doing in my opion and know one deserves to be ripped off...

That's not much of a consolation and of very little help though is it.

thankq terry for the link this will be a great help i think he has a cheek trying to bump some with £5.500 i have tried to ring him phone but unfortunately it tells me they cant take the call and to redial

shell, just give it till tues latest it may turn up, I ordered a part for the bike last monday and tuesday got a phonecall that part of the part was out of stock and due in friday, so I went for next day delivery (sat) it didnt turn up so looks like monday for me with guaranteed delivery.

If it doesnt turn up then contact the local police in his area and explain what has happened and they will send someone round to verify your story as it looks like he has advertised it all over the place.........how many times has he sold it, I hope I am wrong and you do get it but its looking likely you have lost your money

I agree and in hindsight the last thing Shell needs is reminding of the rules, she has enough to deal with.

could be time to put this one to bed............again.......... and if it hasnt turned up by, "say tues" then start worrying about scams and stuff, give RM time as they can be slow.

Its only right you want to let off steam, I would want to do the same but its not going to get the camera to you any faster if its on its way, just wait a couple more days then let rip

Shell give it a couple of days and then update, please.
