Sadly the co creator of such classics as Bagpuss, The saga of Noggin the Nog and the clangers has died aged 83:(

The world of kids tv has lost a big hero

:shake:

Bring back the days of kids entertainment that didn't rely on farts/snot/product placement or tacky prizes :(

Me too, I loved the Clangers as a kid, still do:thumbs:
Forgot about Ivor the engine, forgot just how much kids tv he was responsible for:(

A sad loss - Noggin the Nog and Ivor The Engine were classics of my childhood TV viewing and the Clangers were just great :)

Just been onto my Bro's poetry forum to find he'd penned this tribute:

Oliver Postgate

British as a windy day
Or mash that goes with bangers,
Olly Postgate's passed away,
The man who made the Clangers.

Bagpuss was a cat we knew
Who had a bright pink tinge in
Cloth fur and I must mention too
The great Ivor the Engine.

Noggin the Nog on every week,
Us kids were so elated,
Each character was so unique
That Oliver created.

Pogle's Wood on the school TV!

Wondering why Peter Firman couldn't spell his surname correctly . . .

Some strange references in Pugwash too.
I also liked the Herbs.

The Pugwash stuff was urban myth unfortunately :(

There never was a "Roger the Cabin Boy", "Master Bates" or "Seaman Staines"

Shame :D
