RIP Carrie Fisher

Very sad but not surprising. We are not expected to outlive our children but the grief of the moment can be almost unbearable. A moment of relection to tail off a sleepless night for me.

I don't suppose Todd Fisher gives a damn who was more famous.
RIP Debbie.

Now, it's SUPPOSED to be the season of goodwill... Lets all practice that please, and stop derailing this "espressing concern" thread with petty bickering.

^^^ ahem...

I asked you all to play nice earlier.

Seriously folks...

Now... Paul, you're not "getting" the reason behind this thread. So, I'll help you out. Whatever the person's past foibles, they've died, and their death has upset many people. You may not understand why, but its common decency not to be an arse about that and upset people further. As you couldn't heed my gentle warning i'll make it easier. You're no longer going to be able to post in this thread - and it comes to my attention you start bitching about it in other threads, you'll have a little holiday from the forum. Okay.

Phil and everyone else who jumped on the bandwagon - stop it with the personal comments - I asked everyone to let the staff do the moderating... Your posts have been removed to save derailing the thread further.

It's the great fallacy that drives social media - namely, that the world desperately wants and needs to hear your opinion on everything; even if it's just to state that you don't care.

Ooooh so close! A very astute observation there, but it's slightly incorrect. Allow me .....

"it's the great fallacy that drives social media - namely, people *think* the world desperately wants and needs to hear your opinion on everything". :)

It's completely incorrect, which is why I described it as a fallacy ;)
