Hi folks, I am thinking of buying a ringflash for portrait work and have been looking at the budget version of one to get me started, namely this one here from WE http://www.warehouseexpress.com/buy-marumi-drf14c-ring-flash-for-canon/p1026071

I'm hesitant in that all it mentions for it's main uses are macro, am I going to be ok with this for portraits or will I have to look at another option?

Tommy.

That's no use for portrait work, you'd be better off with an Orbis or RayFlash (the real ones) if you're wanting to use it with a flashgun.

Best thing would be to email them, as they might know which model you need, as the RayFlash is camera and flash specific.

Sometimes you'd need to use a wedge to fill the gap between the flash and the RayFlash, but they should tell you what you need.

Thanks guys for the replies and for saving me wasting my cash :), Anyone have an idea of the type of Rayflash I would need to fit a YN460 ?

What you need to do is measure from (iirc) the centre of the flash head to the centre of the lens to find the correct model
