No
anyone recommend a reasonably priced ring flash for macro. Dedicated canon ones too expensive for me !!

Be careful if you buy the ebay type,as often they are low powered led ring lights not ring flash.

Have you had a look at the Orbis Ringflash?
It's essentially a modifier which fits onto most flash/speed lights.
I am not sure if this is suitable for macro but it's certainly worth a look.

Thanks guys, will have a look at your suggestions

Work in progress, better than ring flash??

I'd say thats more a snoot that a ring flash Gary.
If it gets you results then good on you (y)

yes definitely not a ring flash, most seem to think a flash and diffuser is better. just need to play about with some different materials for the diffusion.

Somebody should start a Pringles tube flash modifier thread.:D

I have just purchased a meike mk-14ext which is great except the adapter rings are plastic !! I've already cross threaded a couple - anyone know where I can purchase metal adapters or filter rings with no filter so I can make these plastic things manageable

Depending on the size needed step up/down rings should work fine, they are mainly used to fit filters to different size lenses

I was considering one of the Godox Range of ring-flashes, i already have the Canon 24EX but wanted to have an alternative as i miss the 14ex ring-flash from Canon.

Anyone have any experience with the Godox Ring-flash? I have a Godox Propac PB820 battery pack that now wont charge,as i think the cells have run out, have only used it a dozen times.

I'm not keen on ring flashes; never had great results with them. I'm currently setting up a macro rig for my X-T1. I've just bought these 3 to mount on a Yongnuo YN-560 IV Speedlight:

They're fairly cheap and will save me constructing some using empty ice cream cartons. :D

I've bought a Really Right Stuff BXT1 L-Bracket:

which I hope to be able to attach this double L-bracket to:

to mount the flash and diffuser over and down like this:

Also got this mini ball head for a little extra flexibility:

to give me a setup much like this:

I'll report back if it works how I expect!

hey Gremlin - good suggestion - I've ordered a set of 18 pcs up/down not expensive so we'll see how we get on !! !

Weight is the problem with too many attachments. Only if you intend handholding . looks a good system if the overall weight is balanced.
