Right or Wrong

lovely expression, but looks to me like the highlight detail is blown out and lost

the white area on the side of her face and clothing, there is no detail in it, it is just an overexposed white patch

Yes i seen that but i think it draws your eye more to her face.

it draws you eye to that side of her face where there is nothing to look at because all the detail has been lost, it is also putting her eye in a deep shadow making it look very black.

just my opinions though

Yes i understand apart from that is the rest looking ok.

I agree with others, that there are technical reasons why the answer to your question - "Right or Wrong" - is "Wrong". This is an objective assessment.

Nevertheless, I sense that you're pleased with the shot. Since granddad is pleased with the shot of his granddaughter, the shot is therefore subjectively "Right", where it actually matters.

So on balance, I'd say that there is room/potential to be "more Right" than it is. The only question that therefore remains is whether you want to go the extra step in getting an image of your granddaughter which is "Right" on all levels. OR.. more particularly to the point, not "Wrong" in any respect. :)

Simon above is spot on

Are you looking for a photo that is technically good or one that you like?

If its the former then do some degree it's 'wrong' i.e. over exposure and the focus looks a bit soft but also is 'right' in that I think the pose and the timing of shot are good.

If its the latter and you and yours like it then its 'right' no matter what any of us say
