Does anyone have experience of these?

Ricoh GX3350N

My HP2600n is coming to the end of its life and I'm doing the groundwork now for a replacement. I'm after good quality photo output and while I accept that printer inks seem to cost more than heavy water, reasonable running costs. It'll also be a general family printer so networking is a must.

I know this thread is over a year old now, but I've recently come across these Gel printers from Ricoh, Did you purchase one and if so how does it compare (print quality & running costs) to an inkjet?

I didn't buy one in the end (I bought a mono Samsung laser). Because of the amount of faffing about and the ridiculous price of ink I decided to use online printers when I want a hard copy.

Used the Ricoh GelSprinter range at work. They're ok, but nothing special to be honest. Only use them because we're on a per page print plan and they're quite cost effective under that!

Thanks guys, I was really looking at the gel printer as an alternative to an inkjet for onsite proofing onto plain paper templates,

With the unit cost, cost per page, print speed etc. it sounds like an attractive alternative, Of course it depends on how the image quality compares to plain paper print from an Epson or Canon inkjet.

Print quality was always ok on plain paper. Ink did tend to soak in a bit though, so could run together a little. Never tried on higher quality settings or with better paper than standard 80gsm though.
