what was the price of the tickets for 2017

cheers

where is the best place to get your shots ??

Depends how much jostling you can put up with :) the whole length is pretty good in fairness, with some premium areas like the friat enclosure or the grandstand which command a slight premium.

i don't mind it being busy but i don't do anyone pushing as i can get a bit annoyed

I have never been but definitely got the red arrows bug at Weston this summer. When do the tickets go on sale? What is good about the enclosure that was mentioned above, please?

Friat stands for friends of Riat and you have to be a member. (Easy enough). The friat stand is a private zone with its own grand stand and catering vans.

The regular grandstand is just that an area that you can pay a bit more to sit/stand in and is a large raised seating (grandstand!) area.

I've worked at the show for the last ten years and use to enjoy my access all areas pass but sadly no longer.

What type of shots do you want, Approach and landing then end of the runway typically 27 end.
If your looking for more acrobatics so to speak, then crowd centre

Typically rotary wing aircraft are best photographed from crowd centre.

the pyrotechnics which accompanied the apache for example were best viewed from the Friat enclosure. The wall of flame behind it only lined up for those who were lucky enough to be in there.

I missed it this year was sat on 27 lol --- the distance is deceptive :)

Not to derail the OP thread, I'm not sure I'm going to go this year, the weather is just too random and if I'm honest there a lot of the displays change very little from year to year, in fact I think I can call out the Reds display, pass by pass from memory :(
Wouldn't mind trying Yeovilton Air Day if thats on in 2018

Had an email today
The annual Royal Naval Air Station (RNAS) Yeovilton International Air Day in Somerset will take place on Saturday 7 July 2018. Planning is well under way for the Royal Navy’s premier public event at the spiritual home of the Fleet Air Arm where up to 40,000 visitors are expected.

I didn't bother with RIAT this year as the weather was not great and I tend to use one of the camp sites as I can decide whether to travel the night before.. The last thing I want to do is buy a ticket, book a hotel and travel 2.5 hours just to stand in the rain.

Anyone know what access was like down the loop road to crash gate 14a (Rymes Farm Rd) ?

We've watched it for years around that area but last year there was talk it was going to become a 'no go' zone. We gave it a miss too this year because of the poor weather.

You must have been in a different part of the FRIAT stand to me - I was towards the Western end of the stand and the wall of flame looked as if it would have been better viewed from the grandstand west of the FRIAT enclosure.

I do agree that FRIAT is a prime location in general.
