weekly RG Miller 2016 - 52 Challenge

I like the idea and lighting - just niggles me it's not level :(

I think you're the first one so far Richard ...a perfect choice for the theme, and a very nice reflection....but I do agree I'd like it level :)

Hee hee ! 0.3 degree rotation......! Should have used a spirit level!!

Hi Richard, technology is nicely spotted and well taken. Good use of available light which is nice and flattering (if that's what you did use - if not, excellent use of artificial to look so natural!!)

I'm slightly less excited by horizontal - it certainly is (now!) but I don't find the lighting and/or depth of field quite brings out as much detail as it could. I'd quite like to see the textured front really crisp and sharp. You have, however, controlled the reflections very well - not easy. So it's good but I reckon you can do it better still with a slight tweak?

Hi Richard, you've posted two strong images since my last visit. I really like your image for Technology, with lovely soft even light and good use of DOF to bring out the details and effects of age. Horizontal is a good idea and you've done well to balance the bright highlights of such a reflective item with the deep black background

WK16 VAST

Well I thought - what is the biggest thing I could think of...... The original image is quite a large file - made up from five raw files and is quite sharp. This little jpg lost all of the sharpness which is a shame :(
Interesting to see the new road bridge coming on way over to the left as well!

That's very good Richard, the perspective with the bridges disappearing into the distance really gives it a sense of scale and vastness.

Horizontal - good clear shot and certainly horizontal
Vast - great pov I really like it

Nicely taken Richard. Like the composition with that perspective drawing the eye toward the central vanishing point. Iconic bridges, definitely Vast.

WK17 Rough

It amazing how this project runs over you when you have a week away! Blimey - what is summer going to be like?

Anyway here is my catch up for rough..... Spotted this very poorly maintained piece of decking.....err in my garden! Ahh b****r - another job to do!

Hi Richard ....just spotted your fabulous take for Vast ...definitely one of the best for it's the sheer vastness, excellent that you managed to get both bridges in too.
Your decking definitely does look Rough :) and I love the maps for Covered, super bright colours and I really like the way it fills the whole frame ...very eye catching.

Gosh Richard where do you get all the maps from ? Great idea. What surprises me most since joining this thread is
everyone's concepts and ideas. You get an instant idea then when you gauge others you think mines crap !
Like to colours and shade

Ha Ha ! Thanks Chris! I think we all think the same! I try not to look unit I have posted - but then your miles behind with the comments!! I have struggled being away this last week so it's a relief not continually walking around looking for "rough" and "covered" everywhere!!

Nice use of perspective in your 'Rough' shot Richard.
I like the colours in 'Covered', but I'm not certain the focus is spot on. Seems to me that 340 is in focus better than the maps in the centre. Mind you, with glasses at around minus 10 I'm not sure I'm qualified to comment on focus.

Your probably right! More of a camera steady problem I think but I quite liked the image ! Thanks for stopping by!

Rough - I like the leading lines pulling you through the picture some great textures and subtly tones.

Covered - Yep you've certainly got most of the country covered I like the colours.

I agree, rough certainly is, I like the low angle. And you do seem to have the country covered, I thought we had a lot of maps, good take on the theme.

Hi Richard.
Rough: Yes, I too like the lines as much as the textures of that decking. Nice POV.
Covered: Well covered ... .and well thumbed too by the look of them. Excellent take.

Love the Vast shot, gives a grea sense of scale and yet it hasn't lost detail.

Rough is another well thought out shot. Lovely low down pov, radiating lines and lots of texture. My only crit is it seems a little soft but that could be my iPadscreen.

Covered is not a shoehorn at all. Great colours and I keep looking around the pic to see where the maps are for. Nice interpretation and they look well used too so I guess you must have Covered a lot of the country.

:agree: rough looks a bit soft to me too ... but still a good job(y)

Covered is a brilliant interpretation. (y)

Hi Richard

Rough - that's a cracker. Really nice image and well captured and processed.
Covered - can I borrow an OS map or 100? ;) That's an impressive collection - mine are usually scattered around and I struggle to find the one I'm looking for before each trip! Nice capture again, and I like the contrasty processing.

Rough - I like the low Pov and teture of the wood
Covered - Yep you have a fair bi of the country covered there good take on the theme
