The first lot of my first ever flash set up arrived today, a Yongnou 565ex,a YN 560,a pair of RF 603 triggers and a load of brolly and stand stuff.

I can't believe it, the RF603 has no safety screw down wheel thing on it and just sits in the hotshoe:thumbsdown: how crap is that!

Mind you, both of those flashes appear very well made.
Time for a play...:)
 
Just a little gaffe tape or masking tape if you're worried
 
I find they sits in quite snugly in the hotshoe without any extra help
 
On there own they are okay, but with one of those flashes on top I feel they could easily come adrift. I just wrapped an elastic band around where the shoe fits to be on the safe side.

i find the603's are a tightish fit on my cam hot shoe, but i would not trust it to hold my flash on a cold shoe without manufacturing something to keep it on, good triggers though, only had a couple of misfires.
 
Under no circumstances use these things with a flash attatched in a shoe that can not clamp them in place. Even the flash stand that comes with the actual flash wont hold them firm if you try to adjust the power etc.

THEY MUST BE HELD FIRM IF A FLASH IS ATTATCHED, OR WILL FALL OUT, EVERY TIME, SODS LAW, PERIOD!

Mind you, with regard the position of the power switch being a pest, I left mine on until they ran out of juice, 48 hours!!!:thumbs:. So, just leave them on all the time you are shooting.(7 day shop re-chargeables 2900 amph)



Shooting tethered in EOS utility live view with these things.

They wont work in live view!!!

They will if you compose and fine focus the shot within the live view interface,any ambiant light you can see by will do for this, then turn off the lights and live view!:)

Now,click the shutter release on the EOS utility screen and this then takes and then brings the shot into the DPP software screen, you can now view and adjust your lighting of your set, and fire again if you want, for that particular shot. Then start live view to compose the next shot.

So, you CAN use these triggers in live view:thumbs: if the above is not too much agg.
