Rewinding a 120 film

This is probably an incredibly silly question but I've got an old Empire Junior medium format camera recently for next to nothing. It's a lovely piece of art deco desing. But before I put a roll in it I don't are any way to rewind the film when I'm finished. Is that normal for a 120 film camera?

its completely normal, when you finish a 120 roll, you keep winding forwards not backwards and that is how you use them

Yep, there is a length of backing paper that is completely opaque to light (within reason) which is longer than the strip of film*. When you start the film, you unravel the backing paper to reveal the film, then once the film is shot you continue to wind the winder to cover up the film again with the tail end backing paper.

*For 120 only. 220 film has backing paper stuck to the ends of the strip of film.
