I have a couple of Panasonic Toughbook laptops that are running Windows 10, both upgraded from Win 7.
I am not happy with one of the installations, I need to install quite a few drivers, but can't figure out how to do it. When I did the upgrade on this one, I did it with no apps and files because it kept telling me some apps were incompatible, now, I don't have the option to revert back to 7.
So, I need to figure out either how to install these drivers or revert to Win 7 and install all the drivers before upgrading again ( or not bothering this time)
Most of the drivers have a setup.exe file and I have no problems with these, the others have to be unzipped then installed via device manager / upgrade drivers. Now, here's the difficult bit, when I zipped, these drivers should reside in a util2 folder on the C drive, however, Win 10 doesn't seem to have util or util2 folders.
Do they exist? If so, where? Or am I missing something here?
I'm not too Windows savvy now, having used Macs for years.

I upgraded last night, the link you posted shows how to revert to 7 or 8 using the recovery option, I don't have that recovery option as I stated, so can't revert to 7.
Panasonic don't supply 10 specific drivers, my other Toughbook, updated with all apps and files intact, does have this option, it also has the util and util2 folders on C.
I don't know why they are in one and not the other, perhaps it's the way it was upgraded with apps and files.
Good point about the win 8 drivers, I'll see if Panasonic have any on their website. They may not have to be installed in a Util folder.

Those until folders aren't windows folders, they must be from something that has been installed separately. I think that is a red herring, perhaps just a temporary extraction location, as all drivers end up in the windows system folders.

If you don't have the revert option then the only method will be a wipe and clean 7 install.

Thanks, I have all the latest drivers from Panasonic.

Neil, the Util folders are on my other Toughbook running Win 10, I assume they are part of the Panasonic drivers package, the drivers unzip to C:/Util2........... I also assume this folder is created at that time.
By installing Win 10 without apps and files, it behaves like a new installation and doesnt transfer these folders across, also the reason I cannot revert to 7.
Your suggestion to do a clean install of 7 is the conclusion I have come to. So, I downloaded the MediaCreation tool and started the download of Win 10 onto a USB stick. Unfortunately, the download stopped and wouldn't start. So, I ran the tool again to restart the download, but it fails to run everytime! I even downloaded the file again, trashed the old one and still it won't run.
Another reminder why I hate Windows....its so frustrating to use.
Anyway, I am going to try to download Win 10 on my other Toughbook, onto a usb drive. My original tough book has a COA on the base but I have no media. I have had to order a new installation disc and will do a clean install of Win 7 when I get it. If I still have the courage, I will attempt another go at upgrading.
So, I am typing this on my Macbook. Its like a breath of fresh air....

sorry why are you downloading W10 to do a W7 install?

unfortunately some hardware is just not supported on new OS. some vendors are just slow or not bothering, cant really blame MS for that, unlike Apple they cannot control what hardware is used with their OS.

do you know what drivers specifically are not working?

I need to reinstall 7 and install all the drivers ( creating the Util folders) Then I can upgrade to Win 10. Unfortunately, now, the Mediacreation tool will not run on either Toughbook. I may just give up and stick with Win7 on that one.

Sorry, forget about the incompatible programmes, they were both Intel tools, can't remember exactly, but the processor is a 2.4ghz i5.
