Returning to the fold.

There was a brilliant fella in the business section who gave detailed and insightful information about licensing etc. He tended towards magazine work I think. However, this was probably in about 1485 or thereabouts. I can't recall his name as he had/may still have a really useful blog.

Any of the staff remember that bloke that used to hang around the staff room and occasionally post the word "Boobs" in a discussion ??

;)

I’ve been on this forum for 10 years, which I’ve just realised. I’m not the most prolific contributor.
Some of these names have taken me back to my early years.
Pookeyhead for one.

Yv?

And what about the staff member called Carole?
I think I met Yv in Brighton - there was a workshop run by CJ Niclolai( Sp? - she did some amazing work but a quick search and I can't find a link)
I can confirm that Yv wasn't a bloke.

Kodiak QC was banned. I don't know what caused it but this place is much less calmer without him.
Pookeyhead wrote a lot of truth disguised as invective. I miss his acerbic wisdom.
Sunnyside_Up (Beth) made beautiful portraits and still lifes. I'm vaguely in touch with her - she no longer does photography.
Sir_sr (Shaheed) - similarly.

As can I - we met several times IRL.

Wow a lot of names that are a blast from the past.
It also goes to show that you will be remembered for either great photos or great gobbing off!

Comes as no surprise that my former name hasn't cropped up as I guess I never truly fell into either category above :ROFLMAO:

Alas though I am back after a few years sabatical.

Hey, I joined my local camera club late last year, and a few weeks later they had their annual awards night.
Obviously I didn't win any trophies, but at the end of the evening there was an announcement and a small cup was held high.
For the new member who has brought a sense of humour and a lot of noise to the club - yup, me, but no mention of my skills with a camera whatsoever.

Maybe I just don't have any, but it amused me to receive an award but for nothing to do with my photography...:(

I used to enjoy Pascal Riben. Quite a strange chap, but nevertheless a fascinating body of work.

And I used to like the work of Joe Scrivens - he just vanished, can’t really remember why now.

There was a guy who did some fantastic wedding work and was shooting a lot of film, but started using Polaroid and super 8 - the more crap the better - who eventually got the hump and left. His digital work was so good, but the other stuff wasn't going to get much love.

This sounds like an interesting chap. Big fan of Super 8 and Polaroid as well as film.

That was probably 10 years ago or more, sorry not to remember more details.

I don't think any of the members I used to know are still on here, or at least don't appear to be posting anymore. I forget exactly who I met now, but I do seem to recall a nice lady who may have been called Gretel?

A few members used to organise impromptu little popup shoots/walkabouts and I attended a couple of those. I think a couple of the usernames in attendance were something to the effect of 'tdodd' and 'STARRIDER' among others.

There used to be a guy on here who was a very gifted wedding photographer. He then became a woman and disappeared both from here and on Instagram etc as well.

Possibly @Gremlin, real name Ingrid.
I believe I've dealt with Ingrid since coming back to photography after a break. I think this one was a Gretel and around 2010-2011ish  I know I saw her at a little TP meetup in the NEC Wetherspoons when a bunch of us co-ordinated a visit to Focus On Imaging.
