retrospective 20 camera bag.. does anyone have one?

Hi again,

I've spent the evening trawling t'interweb for a new camera bag, looking at over the shoulder style for easy access. My issue so far is that in heavy rain it may allow water in at the extents of the main flap... I understand rain covers are available, which is ok, but wondering if someone out here has a better solution or product for that style of bag. I've seen the Retrospective 20, looks the best so far if not a little pricey???

Looking to contain d90 w/ grip, 50mm, 18-200mm, external flash and plus the usual bits....

I do and it's been out in the rain, without it's rain cover and it's still as good as new :thumbs:

It may seem a little pricey, but the quality is top notch and best of all it doesn't look like a camera bag, particularly in Pinestone....
 
Great, news regarding the lack of rain cover... Glad it didn't damage your gear either! Is there anything you don't like about the design?
 
I have one as well and can't find anything not to like although I've only used it a few times so far, still in the 'deciding on configuration' phase at the moment. BTW it comes with its own rain cover so you have the best of both worlds.
 
The only fault I can find with mine is the end pockets on the outside, All I can really find to put in them is pens or bits of paper and even then if they go down to far it's a pain retrieving it. They've be better off a bit looser or elasticated.

Otherwise top non camera bag looking bag. I also have a Streetwalker Pro :)
 
I have one, and have not yet needed to use the rain cover. However, I do find the bag heavy when loaded. I purchased it mainly for urban walkabout (hence the attractiveness of the discreet design), but its no lightweight. I think there's a slight difference in the softness of the fabric between the pinestone and black versions, with the former being more flexible. In both cases, anything inside is well protected. The cover flap's velcro fastenters have silencers on them, which can be configured if desired. I never felt I could trust an unsecured flap when out and about, but then when opening the bag its noisy. I guess if you were on location, you could configure the silencers. I removed the carry handle, as I found it got in the way. The other thing I don't like is the exposed metal inside the bag - a clip, and a zipper, and so I keep them well out the way to avoid scratching and gear. I wish the base was covered with wipe clean vinyl. And the black version gathers / shows dust. I'm being fussy, and its not bad at all. But its not cheap....

I have one too (#20) and it's been all over the place with me for over a year.

Same concerns about the end pockets, they are pretty much useless. The dividers could be stiffer. That's all I can fault it for. It's been in the rain numerous times and all is good.

edit: it's a little tedious to carry when the bag is really full, but that is just a property of shoulder bags.

I found a use for one of mine, lost a lens cap in it for 5 months... :thumbsdown:

I love mine, does everything I want a camera bag to do and doesnt look like a camera bag. Its a win win?
