Retro Tuesday

I don't think it should have an LCD screen though, you should have to wait at least a week before you can see what you've shot, like waiting for your film back from the chemist

At the risk of being burned at the stake as a heretic,r

I'll light the taper! :D

Interesing piece of kit..... as paul says with a D4 sensor, it's likely going to throw out some impresive results.

All that said, I'll stick with traditional stuff....... like an F4 :schtum::D

I've seen various posts about this and can't help but think it looks bloated and over the top with dials so it can be retro for retro's sake. I get the feeling Nikon has seen the success Fuji have had with the X100/X-Pro and want some of it but they've just looked at a selection of analogue cameras and taken a dial from each. I agree with Nick's comment about losing the LCD but more because it looks terrible like a mid-80's calculator. If they're going to include a top LCD it needs more information or don't have it at all. I've also read a few people praising the fact it doesn't have video like it's a huge achievement? As video is more a software function than hardware I don't understand the point of removing it other than for grabbing headlines.

Anyway, I'm probably not the target market but thought I'd share my views anyway :0)

Looks like an F3.....:whistling:

Plus every so often a shot would be hooley'd for no reason at all...

I'm not sure Nikon have the technology to include a Hooley'd function.

Because when it's re-introduced in a firmware update "in response to the wishes of the community", it'll kick the camera back up the sales charts. Nikon must have watched what happened when Fuji removed the blocks on reasonable AF performance in the X100 and X-Pro cameras ;)

It looks nothing like an F3, it hasn't been hit with the ugly stick.

I was looking at this, this afternoon it looks rather ....

Very nice indeed.

I've got mixed views on this.

On the one hand, being a Nikon Fan, I hope they do really well with it. And I think they will.

On the other hand, I already have a small, retro, full frame camera. It's a Nikon FA, and it cost me FA. I even have a pocket sized compact full frame camera with zoom lens. It's an Olympus mju.

I think this says more about consumer aspirations and marketing than anything else.

Don't want to bore anyone with my random musings, but I'm seriously re-evaluating my whole relationship with photography and "gear" is rapidly slipping down the priority list.

Having said all that, IMO Nikon are doing the obvious next step. I did think Fuji would do it first.

NooooooOOoooooooooooOOOOOOoooooooooooo !

It's certainly an interesting bit of kit. I could see myself owning one in the future, but not at that price!

I hope your RB67 hasn't heard you say that ........ Poor thing destined to be replaced by a modern monstrosity :sulk:, they have feelings you know :D

I may be repeating myself here, I may be repeating myself here but what I want, what I really, really want is a small interchangeable lens camera that can shoot in b&w and doesn't cost Leica money. Is that too much to ask or am I thinking of a Voigtlander Bessa and some nice lenses....I'm confused.

now if only Canon would do one modelled after the F-1 (or even the A-1 come to think of it) that'd work with the shedload of old manual focus FD lenses I've got. Sadly, t'aint gonna happen :(

I do like that Nikon and i would trade my Digital cameras for it but I shall wait for the test reports to come out and for the price to drop. Or save up and get a Leica S2 or Pentax D645 :exit:

looks good from the front but the backs a beast !

close Nikon but for me its a camera that doesn't know its role, it should have had a hidden door to hide the screen when not in use and way less buttons.

[wishlist] no screen on the back for me... can't it just use wifi and the display on my mobile / iPad for the very rare occasions I'd need it...

Well I think it looks great! Theres no way i could justify spending that kind of money on one, but its a definite WANT for me :)

I thought that about the XP1 before I saw it for real rather than in pictures. It's still not pretty but it's nowhere near as bad as I thought it was.

how much is it i can got to £150.

Someone work out how many F4s you could get with the body only price of this!

There's a lot to like, I must admit....top quality FF sensor, optical viewfinder with 100% coverage, full compatibility with my arsenal of manual focus Nikkor lenses, and dials and switches rather than menus for key functions (though it still has menus of course). In many ways, it's the first DSLR I've seen that I actually want. I won't get one though, at least until they become affordable in the S/H market.

Interesting re comment above, the camera I think it looks most like is the FA (from the front).

I'm just like.......I dunno.......it doesn't shoot film so what good is it..

The Fuji 670 was much more of a happening, great looking camera, still with a dreamers price tag but something I could see myself shooting.

As sweet as this camera looks, its not something I'd want, its missing a vital component..:|

Yes, of course, I've stumbled across the one person in the Western hemisphere who's unaware of the existence of the iPhone.

whats a hemisphere :-)
