Reszing photos to make upload to Photobox quicker?

I'm getting a set of 6x4 prints done from my recent holiday. I want to get 100 prints, and the folder with the full resolution jpeg exports from LR comes to about 1/2 a GB :o

Can I resize them down to 1800 pixels wide? (My thinking is that with a 300ppi resolution, shouldn't need more than that for a 6x4?) Or is it always best to have the full res version?

:agree:

I've done that with PhotoBox and they've come out fine.

And in fact, since they can't actually print more than about 1800x1200 pixels, they have to be resized somewhere along the line. Doing it myself means I'm in charge rather than their machines, and I can sharpen the images after resizing if necessary.

So I suspect the quality actually ends up better this way. For optimal quality you could ask PhotoBox what resolution they actually print at, and match to that yourself.

If you are feeling lazy Bonusprint have a program you can download to do the file transfer to them for printing. It obviously resizes before uploading as the upload time is relatively quick. Oh and they have a 20% off running at the moment.

I've had prints done from photobox and bonusprint of the same pictures and whilst there were slight differences some bonusprints were better and some photobox were best. On average I found them equal in quality - but bonusprint was easy.
