One Week, and Anything Goes….. Or Photography, My Art – Week 8

The idea of this challenge is to not only test your technical ability and your ability to ‘see a picture’, but also to develop your imagination in creating a piece of artwork, and to encourage lateral thinking. Please note, that a straight picture can be just as pleasing artistically as a highly manipulated one, so this challenge should be open to straight and manipulated images, and judged on their artistic merit

1. As I'm late starting this challenge, I have decided that we will extend the time scale of this challenge for this one. Challenge begins immediately after this posting. The challenge will run for the rest of this week, and the week following giving people enough time to get out with the camera, ending on Sunday Night (13th September) Judging to begin straight after, and be posted Monday before midnight. The new subject for challenge 9 to be posted some time on the Tuesday.
2. Entries should be new images, and not ones that have previously been seen on TP (Unless the image has been significantly altered in some way by PP which makes it a new image.)
3. Any and all photographic technique at your disposal is allowable to create your image. Judging should be based on the final image, regardless of the technicalities of how the image was created.
4. Images can be posted at any time during the week up until a cut off time determined by the judge on Monday evening.
5. Winner to choose a title for the next challenge and judge it at the end of their week.
6. Titles and Subjects can be interpreted however the photographer sees fit, thinking both inside and outside the box should be encouraged. (If you feel that your image could be misinterpreted as not being relevant, a short accompanying explanation note is permissible/encouraged.)

This Weeks Challenge is :-

COLOUR

Lets see what you can come up with

Jump in as soon as you like - cut off time is end of play on Sunday 13th September, Judging to take place some time Monday, with result posted asap after.

Good luck everyone, and here's hoping for a few more entrants given the added timescale.

The original image was taken a few weeks before the competition started but wasn't PP'd until after it started. As i read it that was OK but to save anyone getting upset over it, i have withdrawn it and will put this one in its place.

Winchester Hill. Shot less than 2 hours ago.

Doh..will be away when this one closes so can't enter. Looking forward when this challenge goes back to one week.
Colour should be a great theme.

:bonk:(note to self - stop faffing about with film cameras and Ilford Hp5+ and shoot something colourful this week!):bonk:

don't be silly, film cameras and b&w is where its at! (just not for this week)

Hey -I did say THIS WEEK, not forever

To be honest - i'm quite happy to waver between film and digital, as the whim takes me (or - for example if I get a paid job that may well involve 300-400 shots!) It's just that the EOS-3 film camera makes the EOS-450D feel like something by Fisher Price! Then again, if i'm taking shots whilst hill walking, the fact that the 450 is maybe half a kilo lighter (not counting the weight of film ) means i'll be going digital.

Lots of colour. Is this my bath?

I'm hoping this image comes under the panoramic rules (ie 1024 along the longest edge)

I'm sorry if this seems like i'm being really grumpy and awkward, but surely, I thought that the whole object of this challenge was to motivate you to get out and take a new photograph within the timescale of the challenge - not to just submit whichever photograph you had that fits the bill. I acknowledge that the challenge is also open to manipulated images, which can take a while to post-process, but the spirit if not necessarily the rule was to produce a new image between the announcement of the topic and the closing date / time.

Okay - i'll go sit in the grumpy corner now...

oops... apologies, ignore mine then.. did read the first post and didnt see it had to be taken in a certain timescale.. newbie ignorance, sorry :(

Sorry - this was not clear from the first post, for a newbie. Offending images now removed :bonk:

Colourful Milepost

Sorry if my above post upset anyone, it wasn't my intention to offend or irritate, it's just that over the recent couple of challenges, there had been a number of entries that were obviously out of timeframe. As I said before, the real object of this challenge is to challenge you to get out and take a photo to a specific topic - it's not really a competition, the only prize being to choose the next challenge. To everyone that felt that they had to remove their entries - please, please, please get out there and take photo's, submit them on here, and join in! I'm in these challenges in an effort to improve my photography - lord knows it can stand to improve!!

I don't think anyone is offended - I'm certainly not! And now that the sun has finally appeared I hope to take a suitable shot. I have a couple of ideas but very little free time to try them out.

Sorry if its a little late.

Great image and lovely colour.

So Congrats to Comfy!

Oooh, I wasn't expecting to win this!! Thank you very much for choosing me above some fantastic photos. And well done to everyone who entered, especially Torque22, I really loved everything about this pic, mesmeric.
To answer TurnipFarmer's question, all I did was a massive crop on a picture of a surfer in the foreground and then played with the colours.
Next round will be up shortly :)
