Charlie Gard, the baby at the centre of a legal row over his treatment, has died, a family spokesman has confirmed.

Sad news :(

Very sad. RIP Charlie.

Was always going to be a sad occurrence.
RIP little man

It's sad but now he is at peace

It's his parents I worry about - I hope they will get the support they need - they've been fighting for so long

I'm in total agreement - but this couple allowed the media to take over the campaign - people and politicians were supposedly supporting them in their attempts to get treatment - I hope those same people and politicians will now help the parents and let them grieve - as they will be doing - in peace. They need to get rid of so much anger which, as we all know, can be destructive

And some of us watched our babies die out of the media glare, and we managed.

Yup, and you know how horrible & lonely it is after the funeral and everything is over & you close your front door after everyone has walked away. What they've been doing has given them a reason to keep going, and now that's over they're likely to find life very empty.

I'm sorry, are you suggesting that my life was any less horrific after watching my children die, simply because I didn't live it out in the media glare?
If you are, then you're mistaken.
I feel empathy for them, I really do, but trust me, their prolonging the inevitable, will not make anything easier for them.

Not in the least - quite possibly the media circus and court cases etc gave them more hope, at least early on, than most others would have. However they are going to have to face the same situation those of us that have lost children experienced, where the arrangements etc have been completed, and we are then left to make of life what we can. As you say, the inevitable has been prolonged, and it won't make the next phase easier.

OK, sorry. It's something close to my heart.
I didn't mean to be pi55y. If I was, I wholeheartedly apologise.

Don't get me wrong what happened to Charlie Gard is sad, but for every Charlie there are many more parents who have to make similar decisions but don't do it in the media glare.

Like the McCann case, some cases seem to get the media attention and other parents have to suffer in "silence"
