resonable priced rangefinders

Bill, the A models can be used in Aperture priority and the M are fully manual. The R2 series has finders for 35/50/75/90 mm lenses and the R3 series for 40/50/75/90 mm lenses otherwise they are identical.

...otherwise they are identical.

Thought the R2A/M had a .7 finder and the R3A/M a 1:1

...and there's the R4 if you prefer wide angles.

I'm looking to run with 40ish and 90ish mm lenses, the R2/3A is still fully manual as well as having the 'A' mode I assume?

Super wide is not really what I want this for TBH.

Sorry, I forgot that bit.

Andy stop it, please! I'm wanting one so much I'm getting upset! :cuckoo:

I need an R4 or a Leica/Minolta CLE but I've just broken the bank to buy Ed's Nagaoka so my search for an affordable Leica fit rangefinder is on the back burner.

NEED or WANT, Nick? :D

please allow me to answer that for you Nick

Nick NEEDS and must have an r4

The trouble with the later R's is not spec or boring stuff like that... it's that horrible chunk taken out of the corner by the rewind crank. A diagonal edge is just so much more refined imo

Well I looked at a couple of Rs really wanted the R3m (A friend has that Nokton 40mm above on a pony nex and I really like it) but couldn't see any for sale, made a half hearted bit of a R3a which I lost, then put a cheeky low ball bid on a Leica M3 and won it! So I need some Leica glass now as I believe putting Voigtlander lenses on a Leica is a hanging offence in certain circles

it seems £25-30 would buy me a reasonable Fed-2...

How bad are they (weight and size are fine)? this might be the way to go to test the water on rangefinders.

Although I am considering an industar 50-2 on my spotmatic could be just as pocketable.

Fed 1 & 2 are the same size and weight as Leica 11 & 111 cameras, hard to tell a Leica 11 from a Fed or Zorki 1, Russian lenses are pretty good as well.

I have a Leica 11 and a Zorki 1 they look handle and feel the same.
