Good morning all.

Just a quick one, when I resize my images for the web they look very soft. I know I should sharpen them slightly but just wondering how much? I use a basic program to resize them and get the option to sharpen them between 0 and 300%. Would it vary from pic to pic? I just dont want to cook it!

Thanks :)

Would you be able to get Photoshop?
There is a very good method of sharpening through photoshop called High Pass Filter sharpening. I find this much better than any other sharpening option in other software packages.

I am not very precise and just use the standard "Sharpen" filter in photoshop after resizing, it always seems to just bring back the sharpness after the resizing. Doesn't seem to change from shot to shot, though if the image has lots of close together lines (grass etc) then the sharpening may need to be decreased as it can look a bit ott I find.

Ive never even thought of sharpening my pictures after resizing for the web.. ill have to have a look and see if it looks any better to do so.

ill have to look at that later.... cant view that sort of thing from work... grrr

I have just had a fiddle with the highpass filter. Very impressed :D Thanks
