Yes
does anybody know how to resize an image in elements 7?

'Image' - 'Resize' - 'Image Size'

Then simply input the size you want in the boxes.

(Taken from Elements 8, but I expect it's the same wording in 7)

What about lowering file size?
I'm trying to upload some shots into the gallery, I have lowered the dimensions to 800wide hoever the filesize is still close to double the 200k limit,
Whats the best way to cut this without losing quality?

Go to file, scroll down to save for web ,enter 800 on the longest side press ok and save.

Just had a look there, your losing me at the enter 800?
What is it im entering 800 for?

.

Thats the longest length most if not all web sites like this one will accept.

Oh right, yeah iv all ready resized the image to fit the dimension limits, its the file size that needs lowered.

That's the largest size in pixels for the forum limits.

For a great little resizing programme that will do batches and even watermark at the same time have a look for Faststone Photo Resizer. I usually download it from www.majorgeeks.com

The problem is the quality and EXIF data all bump the file size up.

Follow the good instructions above to get the longest size to 800 pixels, this will lower the file size from the original but may not be low enough to post your picture in the gallery.

If the file isn't small enough try the 'Save for Web' option under the File menu. This will strip the EXIF data. If the file size still isn't small enough you'll have to play with the image quality slider in the Save For Web options. Keep decreasing the image quality until the file size is just under the 200k limit.

Thanks for the reply
That was the only way I knew how to do it, wasnt sure if there was another way of doing it without lowering the quality.
Though I never knew about the exif data taking up space.
Thanks again :)
