I have a weird error, I was home at the weekend (Huddersfield) and dumped a load of video files from my NAS via a USB to my laptop.
I then came back to Glasgow on sunday.

On coming to watch one of my video files (a large 11gb film) it erred, I couldn't figure out why, I tried another of my files and they all failed to play.

on checking the metadata properties all the video details for the files are lost so I assume my media box cannot read any data to give it an idea.

I remoted in to my NAS and can see all the metadata so something has gone wrong with the USB transfer.

So how can I edit the remote files and put the correct data in, I have access via remote to the proper properties of the files.

cheers

Are the files the same size? How exactly did you copy them? I'd be surprised if a USB copy stripped out the file header without damaging the rest of the file.

You may be able to get FFmpeg to re-write the file header. But that requires the original video and audio data to be intact.
