If replacing a motherboard, (like for like manufacturers unit), and all the components are swapped over to the new board, how much configuring is needed before it's a case of power-up and go?

may require some driver instlls. ( normally sound, network card, etc etc. but these can be done with the supplied CD and take about 5-10 minutes max

If really like for like, it should just be a press the tit job:)

It will be 'like for like'.

You will be fine then.

Good news, thanks :)

Not necessarily. It may be same make and model but if it's a different rev then you may have to do a bit more fiddling.

Example I RTMd a motherboard and got the next revision back, damn thing wouldn't get past a blue screen and had to reinstall.

Thanks, will check :)

Yes it's a Dell with OEM

You may have to run through the activation if prompted, just enter the product key off the sticker on the pc. Should activate no bother, worst case you may have to do the old automated phone activation.
