Yes
ive got some old courtney solaflash equipment, namely 3 heads, stands, brollies and a softbox. It all works and is in great condition, but I'm not sure how the Solaflash heads compare to modern heads.
I'm thinking of gradually replacing them, and was considering Lencarta smartflash heads.
Any thoughts?
Would the smartflash heads fit on my courtney stands?
:)

If your Solaflash heads have a red plastic clip each side so the reflector can be removed then the spigot size is the same as the smart flash heads, otherwise probably not.

All is not lost most of the Courtney stands the spigot can be removed and replaced with ebay ones @ a few pence each

I'd have thought the modifiers would be a bigger issue, I'd forgotten that there used to be different stand fittings.

Yes, they have the clips which you raise, and the reflectors can be removed. I thought the spigots on the end of my stand were an integral part of the stand though.

the brollies are ok but the softbox will not fit

The softbox I have is a universal one so I think that might be ok.
It wasn't expensive, so it would get replaced eventually.

You are ok then your stands will fit smartflash heads, it does not matter if can change the spigot.

Universal soft boxes are not that universal, you can get a s type speedring on ebay that will take the rods on the softbox, and throw away the plastic bit.

As you may have worked out by now I have go down the route you are planning

Ok, cool. Thanks.
Did you find much difference in the quality of light from the new heads compared to your old heads?

So much better, colour is content and being able to adjust the power make life so much easier.

Not only that but there are so many s type fitting modifiers about

This. The Courtenay were up to the standard of their day, but that standard was much lower than the current one, and colour temperature was variable to say the least - and was always very blue.
And, back then, very few modifiers were even available, so even when that fitting was current, there was very little choice of modifier available.
