Hi,
About 6 months ago I had a failed aperture flex cable on my 15+ year old mk1 lens. I do love this lens - see no reason to upgrade to an RF equivalent so I decided I’d repair it myself along with my father who is an engineer (proper mechanical one, not a back street mechanic sort of thing - knows his way round most things…).
So after about 2 days sold we managed to get it apart and replace the cable…. A further 2 days and it was only half back together with the inner lens barrel failing to rotate, possibility that the focussy alignment bits (forget what they are called) are not in the correct place and a bit of a chewed up cable as it got stuck between the barrel and inner workings and a broken inner lens bit which snapped as I was refitting….
Anyway so we basically gave up between us and considered ourself beeten by the complexity of the damn thing.
We are going to have a second go this weekend but I’m wondering if anyone can point me to a firm that could assess viability and re assemble for a decent price.. i.e somewhere around resale value at max?
Sorry if this is the wrong location for this topic!!!
