Just got back from collecting my Nikon 24-70mm lens from a local company called Camserve in East Sussex. So thought they were worth a mention on how good they are. The lens went in for a new hood retaining collar as the existing one on it a lug had broken when the lens was dropped. Not only was their repair costs very reasonable but they also did a thorough clean inside as apparently there was quite a bit of dust inside the barrel. Apart from their weeks holiday it was all done in a very quick time and on collection it also came with a 6 month guarantee and service report, something I was not expecting.
So went and took a few photos and it may be just me but they seemed to be "cleaner", if that makes any sense. So I have no hesitation in highly recommending this company for any camera/lens repairs

Baz , Out of curiosity do they work on stock that is older,ie no longer supported by the marques?? I'm very fortunate myself to now have newer gear, but the old lenses are still in huge use,not everyone can afford the latest kit,so it's always something worth knowing.

Cheers for sharing mate ,always good to hear of service above and beyond !!

One would have to contact The company direct about that, I Don,t know but their site does have a form to fill in

It is no posh place with glossy show cases, actually the complete opposite . Reception is a small area with a workbench type counter, behind which is the workshop. What I did like was how friendly they are and really know their stuff, no snotty nose kids pretending to know it all, just the guys who listen and help. Pity other places are not so helpful,As you can guess I was well impressed

Tried out the lens this evening and hard to explain but the test photo looked clearer, if that makes any sense. The lens itself has never been overhauled and cleaned since it was new a good few years ago . Bit like a house window that gets cleaned hardly ever, you can see through it but not as well when cleaned
Test shot as taken but converted from Raw to Jpeg to put onto here. Even my wife Sue says she can notice the difference but others may not, and she is not into photography.
Not talking about the usual ie sharpness contrast etc, just the general overall look is cleaner

Oh and the lens hood is now staying on the lens as it should which it went in for
