Removing tyre tracks from snow

Hey guys
As most of us have been out with our cameras over the past few days i have been also.
Theres two photos my cloning skills aren't up to editing, i'll post them bellow.
Basically i'd like the tyre tracks taken out, is cloning the best way to go about this and if so any tips on how to do so as i don't seem to be able to get it just right?

In cs5 you can use fill content aware, (create a selection box, right click - fill - content aware) give it a try doing the edges first and see how it gets on, gimp as heal selection that does the same, sometimes they do a great job, others its really trial and error

Sorry should have mentioned i'm using elements 10.
Ive tried using the spot healing brush also but i just don't seem to be able to blend it well enough.
 
You could try taking a photo of another smooth covered ground of snow then cloning that snow onto your pic then blending, might work.
Story haven't used elements so not sure of its constraints.
 
I actually like the tyre tracks :thumbs: in the pic, kinda makes your eye follow the lines into the image .. anyway hope you don't mind but did a quick edit with cs6 content aware amazingly quick and easy, but that might show :gag: with a little care you can do better :D done this to give you an idea what it would look like..

thats not a bad job at all, i'd just go over the black spots to finish it off

Yeah i did wonder if it would loose some of its feel without the tracks, I'm still undecided as to which i prefer though.
Thanks for the edit though, i'll have a go at them both tonight but don't think i'll get them much better than your quick edit.
 
Had a quick go as james suggested and have posted my results bellow,
undecided as to if i prefer the shots with the tracks leading the eye into the image or without, what do you guys think?

maybe opt for one in between, so there's only 1 set of tracks :shrug:

this was just a simple clone using elements 9.

Thanks for all your comments guys.
After keep checking back on the images I think I prefer the ones with the tracks in as it definitely helps draw your eye into the picture.
 
Make it really interesting and ask for help cloning ALL traces of snow out :nuts:

Give me a few weeks and i'll do the best cloning job you've ever seen ;)
I work better when theres no snow outside tho.......

I think the 'one set of tracks' of leftcurl gives you a good lead in line for the image

I live in Totnes, Devon and haven't seen any snow on the ground this winter. Some has fallen but thawed on hitting the ground. Yet when I see the news everywhere else in Devon seems to have been hit very badly. Hope I am not speaking too soon :lol:
