Bizarre request I know, anyone know the best way I can remove VERY stubborn folds / creases in a sheet of RIP STOP NYLON which is 4metres by 4 metres square?

This is relating to a lighting experiment I am doing....hopefully the right forum...just :D

One of those steam trouser press thingys........
Dry cleaners used to use them.

Hi Gary,

Try putting a damp towel above and below the nylon and then iron the hell out of it... Be careful using the iron on it's own though! ;)

Hope that helps,
Si

If there is a charity shop in street near the studio, go and ask if they have a clothes steamer, the sort they run over the clothes donations before they put them out on the racks that gets rid of the creases and reduces any nasty niffs - ask if you can borrow it, perhaps in return for a donation to the charity. Then run the steam nozzle over the cloth where its hung [if you mean the white backdrop one you use or hang it in that same spot if a different piece] but make sure your lights and stuff are out of the way a bit first ;)

or if you cant get your hands on one of them see if anyone will let you borrow their steam generator iron if they have one?
I have one and it comes in quite handy for other stuff...cleaned the windows in my bedrooms with it as the white PVC was not looking its best

Speaking as a kite flyer :D ripstop can be ironed - but as others have said - not too hot an iron and best to put a damp cloth in between iron and ripstop.

:)

Cheers everyone for the advice :D I have 6 shoots tomorrow on new light settings and the creases are going to cause me major problems if I don't sort...

Start STEAMING it then!

Can't you hire a steam cleaner for doing curtains in situ? Or have I imagined that?
