Hi everyone.

I'd like to remove the two front people (the females) out of this photo. Only problem is because i'm such a beginner, I haven't invested in Photoshop yet. Can anyone help me by telling me of a piece of free software (and how to do it using the software) that can be used to do this?

Thanks so much in advance for any help!

Mikey. :)View attachment 20013

Hi Mikey, the two figures make the photo imho. if you removed them you would end up with a quite boring picture with a large area of empty tarmac in the foreground.

Hi Phil.

Thank you for your reply.

I know what you're saying, and I agree to an extent. I was actually planning on cropping a lot of the tarmac out so as to make the photo more rectangular, i'd still keep both versions though as I like it with the two people in the foreground too.

Any advice on any programs?

Thanks,
Mikey.

i think the problem you#ll have here even if you do clone them is the next couple of skateborders are OOF so you would end up with once cloned and cropped what would look like a poorly focused shot. with the background oof too i can only assume quite a shallow DOF was used and as said above the two front people are what gives the image a sense of focus and without them i think your on to a loser.
you could try Gimp i guess which is free and has a clone tool but think it'll be a lot of work for an unsatisfactory end result

Although the two girls look a little static, removing them would leave a photograph with a load of empty path. I know you're not after crit of the photograph and you could clone it out in Gimp, which is free. Everything from the neck down shouldn't be that hard but above the head will be harder. I might have a try if I have a minute (but I won't post).

Cheers.

I've just tried it. Not fit for publication!!! IMHO you keep it as it is or ditch it.

Ditto, if you want to see it IM me your email and I'l send it to you. It doesn't look great PP wise or as a photograph. But not as bad as I thought.

Cheers.

BTW you can get Lightroom and Photoshop for around £8 per month via Adobe Creative Cloud.

Cheers.

Hi Andy.

I didn't know that you could pay monthly for Lightroom and Photoshop, this is something i'll definitely look in to. Thanks for mentioning it!

Your attempt can't be any worse than mine (I used the free Photoshop Express and it was so terrible I didn't even bother saving it), i'd love to have a look. IM on the way.

Cheers,
Mikey.

Send to retouchup.com, first one is free

Although why you would want to I don't know, it's a fine shot as it is, removing them would just leave an empty scene that's out of focus. It's a bit like asking for that woman to be taken out of the Mona Lisa so you could see more of the landscape :)

think i would go the other way.. bring a little more contrast into the sky as its a little blown and clone out the second 2 figures that are blurred. looks like Brighton so plenty of chance to retake again i guess as always skateboarders down there

Very occasionally I might crop an image.
Your suggested editing is akin to pixelography, not photography.

Try Gimp. Not sure why you want to.You obviously see something in the image that I cant.

You could trial lightroom or ps for free for a few days, but I agree with the above- you would be removing the most visually interesting part of that image.

I'd have been tempted to clone out the guy in the white T-shirt instead. The other three foreground figures are arranged in a rather nice triangle, with the two of the sides extending to the corner of the shot... [/unsolicited comment]

Nice one. Never noticed that.

Holy crop! Did I just make an artistic comment? I need to go and have a lie down.

Under 3 min work using Canon DPP, that comes free with all EOS cameras.

More time would get a better result.
