Hi,
Im trying to remove an annoying light from a picture i took. Im using Aperture but not having much luck.
Is there a way of doing it other than using the retouch brush? Or do i need a different program?
The light in question.

Why would you want to remove the bright lights? It's a night time shot.. bright street lighting etc. is a feature of night time :)

I think the light adds to the shot -IMHO

But if you really really wanted rid of it I am not sure how you could do it as it would be most difficult without ending up with a 'pigs ear'

Id rather the light gone, but having created a few "pigs ears" with this shot then i guess the light will have to stay.
I don't mind some of the light, its just that big one right in the middle annoys me.

Personally I think it adds to the shot

It could be removed or reduced in Gimp or PS or any picture editor if you were proficient and had time. Perhaps for a learning experience. But it looks fine as it is.

I had a go. But I think I made a pigs ear of it.

ynot - there are the folks who want to know how to put such lights into their photograph especially with the rays

A friend of a friend used to put starburst filters on everything, he even had a "fake rainbow" filter, yeah! (Film days)

The barrel distortion on the LHS is more of a distraction than the light

Is there?
I always struggle to see lens distortion. Id have thought using a FX lens on a DX body would stop any distortion.

Glad to see you have accepted lights are way cooler than pigs ( apart from bacon sarnies).... it's a gorgeous shot

Yup the bank appears to curve up both on the left hand side and on the right of the power station slightly. You can see it slightly on the chimneys also. Correct that and it'll be a cracking shot.
Really liking your images

Is it left hand side
oh. that was a surprise. I thought you wete going say some land mark that I didnt know about with the initials LHS which stood for London... something.

Just say on the 'left'. The words 'hand' and 'side' are redundant.

You have far superior grammar by the looks of things

Actually the term LHS is in common usage as an abbreviation of 'left-hand-side'. In addition, the 'hand' and 'side' are not redundant in this context as they refer to the left 'of' something ie. the power station surely.

Anthony.

:agree:
I'm a bit picky with anything that should be horizontal/vertical on landscape images, LR (thats Lightroom for anyone who struggles with abbreviations) :meh: :indifferent: is good for correcting distortion.

I'm typing on a smartphone without a keyboard and miniature text. so forgive my typos.

And I'm sticking with my recommendation. To use left as it is unambiguous here. it's not left behind.
