Remove Creases from Cotton Muslin

a few month ago i got a Blue Chroma Key cotton muslin backdrop and yesterday we put it up in the studio but its seriously covered in creases and fold marks..

does anyone have any ways of removing these from it.. its 3x6m

Have you tried squirting it with plain water? Plant spray gun is pretty neat.
Give it a spray and leave it to hang for a bit.

Boil a kettle and steam it

Cotton is only surpassed by linen in it's ability to create creases

Invest in a sister (sorry, sexist: sibling) that owes you money.
Alternatively, combine steam-ironing first with vertical steam hanging it from the support, after taking safety precautions, doing a risk-assessment and checking nothing sensitive to steam is behind it. Like a leather chair........or a sister.
Mines poly-cotton but still can't get them totally flat. I found it deff bit more of a prob with chroma, it seems the slightest crease can throw select-by-colour off enough to make it a pain.

The best thing to do is stretch it onto a frame - otherwise it'll never stay crease-free.

Now I was always told not to iron muslin, or it goes shiny?
I dont have any muslin backdrops so it makes no odds to me. Just curious.

Not sure how your hanging it, but I pull it tight and clip mine to the backdrop stands
masking tape on the backdrop on the floor.
I think I see timber in you photo, cant you clip or masking tape it to that

I use a small hand steamer which gets fold creases out. Bought mine years ago from Lastolite. Dont know if they still do them but if you Google hand steamers or garment steamers you should get a selection come up.

Paul, a pop up type one is probably easiest if you need to collapse it, otherwise vinyl or paper, if you can store a roll...

buy a steam iron from agros works a treat, then go get a cardbord carpet role from carpet shop and role it on that everytime simple(crease free).

I have exactly the same problem... I know it sounds stupid, but I ironed it standing up lol!
