It's pot luck as to which one will be best. You might get a good set of the first ones, a bad set of the second, or vice versa. Quality Control isn't exactly consistent with these things....

I'd go for the horizontal mount ones though, because the angle adjustment brackets on the vertical ones are just utterly pathetic and untrustworthy, and take your flash too far off centre when shooting through a brolly.

I ordered some a set of CTR-301 Ps (V8burble's link) after reading the discussion on them in the strobist Flickr group http://www.flickr.com/groups/strobist/discuss/72157611535964184/

Very little in the way of problems such as misfires and random firing, and I thought the receiver with the tripod screw was a better design compared to other eBay triggers. Hopefully I'll get them early next week so I'll let you know what they're like.

Cheers for the help guys, I took a chance and ordered the latter set, and they turned up today, 1 week, not bad at all. and so far all is good, they still fire through 3 walls and quality is not that bad, the battery cover could be better and the power switch is in a tricky place but not bad at all.

Thanks again.

ooo, the ones you've bought look good Kris as they take AAA batteries rather than the CR2 batteries which cost about £6-7 a time and I have a bad habit of leaving mine switched on lol

Just ordered a set of these 36 pound for 1 transmitter and 3 receivers. I like the fact that they are much lower profile and in addition to wireless they also have optical triggering. I also like the fact that these will not only work with my hotshoe flashes but also my studio strobes.
