remote trigger my 430ex2?

If you want to maintain your camera's eTTL, then something like the Pocket Wizard mini/flex or the Phottix Odin would do the job. Alternatively the Canon ST-E2 controller.

Otherwise one of the Yongnuo are cheap and fairly reliable.

hi. is their a device which allows me to connect wireless reciever trigger on my flash mount in my 400d and have the other wireless point attacked to my canon 430ex2 so i can position my flash away from my camera onto say a trip a few feet away from the body?

is this what i need? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hahnel-Giga...4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1316864672&sr=1-4

As I have said many times EBAY, £19

THREE wireless, One is a NIKON dedicated flash, the camera is Canon. The make of flash is immaterial if in Manual mode.

Hi Jonny

I use the Hahnel's and for the price they are pretty good. The do mis fire now and again but not very often. I went for the cheaper http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hahnel-Combi-TF-Wireless-Canon/dp/B003U9VKUW/ref=pd_cp_ce_1. They dont have a couple of the features like time lapse but its not something I need. I bought two sets and trigger two speedlights at the same time for more options.

The thing I like about these is that they can be used as remote release for your camera if you want to do that too by putting the reciever on the camera and linking it to your PC socket and using the test button on the transmittor to fire your camera. Can be very useful.

I always shoot manual (flash and camera) so loosing ETTL isnt something I was worried about. If you are then pocket wizards are amazing but then they are a lot more money!

Hey JSER, where did you get those clamps from? exactly the kinda thing i'm after for a similar set up!

cheers in advance

You've pre-empted the question I was going to ask, Jeremy, re flashes and mix and match of same. Thanks. 

Unfortunately they are not cheap, they are Manfrotto from my frave shop.

In the photo you see them with the centre columbs of my Giottos tripod with Manfrotto ball heads

HOWEVER, these are available on ebny and the clamp comes open to attach to ANY tube including wide tripods. It also rotates as you see so with a b and s head on a post any angle is available, I have tried one and it supports my Metz 44 AF-1 with no trouble.

I use them for fence posts, gates, car window, door frames, you name it, and as you can see it takes all tripod tubes, there is a removable adaptor inside if you have a larger one than I have which is Giottos.

The quality is 100%, as you would expect from Manfrotto

Are perfect if you want to clamp to a tripod.
