Remote Release

Hi,
I have a D3000 and as you maybe aware it does not come with a PC sync. If i bought the nikon AS-15 would i be able to use a remote shutter release cable like the ones designed for the d300 ect.

I know there is the nikon IR remote but i would like it to be a cable release.

I'm pretty sure that the entry level Nikons can only use the IR shutter remote.
