I'm looking to see what's out there to control my canon via a laptop, does anyone know of any software that can do this?

I already know about "DSLR remore" from breeeze...just wanted to see if there is anything else on the market.

Steve...:)

What kind of Canon? If it's a DSLR it should have come with the Canon's EOS Utility or CameraWindow, both of which allow tethered shooting.

Canon supply a bundled software package which includes Remote Capture. You can control all aspects of the camera settings from this software too. Couple of drawbacks, a)the firewire is not that long, b)it can be a touch slow to pull the image to the laptop.

Other than that its all good.

I experimented with the latest breeze systems beta software for the 1d mkIII over the wekend steve and was very dissapointed with it. My major reason for trialling it was because you could focus manually but with the PC - the reality was that it's horribly unstable and even caused my camera to malfunction - to the extent i had a mild coronary. Fortunatley the old "remove battery" method of camera maintenance did the trick. In summary, Canons may not be the best, but it is, so far, the most reliable!

Slow image download, instability are the two main reasons I'm looking for something else.

I did read somewhere a few months back that there was something new on the market, and the person who posted the comment said they had seen it at a show somewhere in the UK. Problem now is I cant remember where the show or post is....or any other details for that matter, except that it was 1000% percent better than the breeze prog.

Hopefully someone here will know.

I think you can also do this with the software provided by Olympus for the E-series range of DSLR's.

Exceptionally useful for Canon, then ;)

Eeeek, that'll teach me eh! Now, where's my glasses :)

Surely that's what betas are for? You test and report back any problems you find.
