Can anybody recommend a remote release for the Nikon D3S. After last nights attempt at shooting the moon it's become apparent I need one.

Thanks

Got one like this, works fine and cheap :D

Ebay

Welcome. Figured a remote release should be just that....remote! ;)

I bought a Phottix Plato for my D300S off 'the bay'. I think it was only about £25-£30. I think the D3S has the same 10 pin connection as the D300S so would probably work with it. There are other remotes if you do a search there.

The Phottix Plato has been very good, range supposedly has a range of 100 feet, though I doubt I'd ever be that far away from my camera. It can also be used wired. And the bonus of the Plato over the Phottix Cleon I had previously is that the Plato uses AAA batteries for the remote and the receiver, whereas the Cleon used a CR2 battery.

Yes your right there, I was quite supprised at the 100m range as well, that will come in handy for some nature shots I would have thought.

Hi Redhed, Thanks for this, just had a look and they do do a plug the No8 model for the Nikon D3s, and it is a lot cheaper than the other release that mouldy has recommended, but I have already placed my order for that one now. Thanks anyway

No probs. :) I think you were a bit quick off the mark there. ;)

Then again, if you have a D3S such piddling price differences probably don't mean as much. ;)

When I first bought a D200, I got a wired release then soon realised that any physical link between me and the camera could introduce shake (100% user error!), so I got a Hama wireless release through Amazon. Works the length of the garden plus the whole house even with the antenna down on the sender - No idea what the maximum range is - might get around to testing it one day if I ever remember!

Hi, Yes it's a wireless one I have ordered recommended by Mouldy, I had a wired release years ago, I think it was used with an old FM2, in fact I only found it the other day when I was sorting out a few boxes of old junk. No good for the D3S though LOL

Super job, For the money I thought it was a pretty good bit of kit.
