Are there any wireless trigger systems that allow remote control of canon speedlights from the camera menu. eg. setting individual power levels in manual mode. I've had a look at the pocket wizard flex system but that requires a 580ex II as a controller as far as I can see. I would rather do it from the camera menu.

Regards

PW Mini/Flex with AC3 controller, or Phottix Odin.

There's a review of both in the March edition of Advanced Photographer magazine, out next month.

Not true (as far as I know)

Put each flash on a flex and the AC3 &TT1 on your camera. Job done you can control all flshed using the AC3

To do from the camera menu then you will need a 580EXII (but why would you want to do that)?

I read the Pocketwizard manual online and it stated explicitly that a 580ex II was required. It made no mention of the AC3 zone controller. Perhaps they need to update their manual. Nice to see that it can be done as in the video though.

I realise that using a 580 would require line of sight and hence negate the use of radio. That's why I specified via radio trigger.

As to why I want to do it. If the flash is up high, buried in a modifier or at a distance it makes sense to have the capability to change it from the camera. It would be much easier and faster.

Thanks to all who replied.

What I meant was from the camera menu over an on-camera system like the Ac3 controller which may be the addition you need then.

I totally understand the issue you have as I use Elinchrom lights and the Skyport system allowing you to change power from the camera is very nice and a powerful tool.

The AC3 looks like the Speedlight version of the Skyport.

Cheers

Pocketwizard seem to tout their product as the ultimate ETTL system. I thought the AC3 was simply like a quicker and more direct version of flash exposure compensation for ETTL. The camera menu therefore seemed like the most logical choice for manual control.

Nice to know that it can be done now though.
