Hi,

Going to be using some flash lights for an upcoming job which is slightly daunting! But anyway, I was planning on using a Canon 430 EX on camera as fill flash and 2 Metz flashguns off camera remotely fired. In order to retain TTL metering for the on camera flash (Will manually set the Metz's) would I need I wireless trigger I can plug into my flash sync socket, as I've been infomed the cheap transmitters don't carry the metering through to the flash on the camera?

I'm currently looking at these:

Or these:

Thanks in advance, Harry.

Remote manual flash with on camera TTL flash is possible and very popular with wedding photographers at receptions (it was my standard for a long time).

To answer your question, we need to know what camera you have. You need one with a dedicated PC port in the side to run the remote manual trigger for the metz, while the 430 will be directly on your camera's hotshoe. You can do it other ways, like running a trigger between the camera and flash, but that's more involved.

You also have to be careful with which triggers you buy, as not all have pc input sockets on the trigger (transmitter). The latest 602 transmitters (actually called the 600tx) does not.
