Of course it is possible. Same as remote desktop access to your home PC from "outside" is possible but as Neil suggests here's not really the place to discuss such things.

Whilst I realise Torrents have a bad rep they are not only used for illegal downloads and were in fact originally intended to allow downloads of large files and is used by a number of companies who without bittorrents would find there servers and bandwidth squeezed.

IBM, HP, Sun to name a few provide downloads as torrent files not to mention numerous Linux distributions, Red Hat any one?

Best not to assume the OP is doing anything illegal without any info to suggest that he is.

Paul.

Oh to answer the original question, Logmein allows remote control of your pc over the internet and it's free for basic use.

im aware of valid legal torrents, however im struggling to see a need for remote access to a torrent app for a couple of legit distros that would be downloaded as a one off.

that said i appologise to the OP if im wrong.

There are apps in the android market for doing this. No idea if they work or not

µTorrent offers a web interface which you can access through your browser. Assuming you forward your ports correctly on your router and have some sort of static IP address you can access it from anywhere on the internet. There's an app on my webOS phone that lets me control it. Given that webOS has barely any apps compared to Android and iOS, I'd imagine if webOS has an app for it, then Android and iOS probably does as well!

Hi Tom,

it's the static ip address that i think i'm stuck on. Is it possible to set up a static ip address on BT or Virgin broadband?

And there is a mass of legal downloads available via bittorrent to those wondering...

you wont get a static IP without paying your ISP for one. you can use a dynamic DNS service though.
