Yes
Ok so I know some of you guys use remote triggers for cameras behind a gola mouth.

Can someone explain how it all works?

e.g.

1) how do you trigger the remote camera?
2) line of sight required

etc etc

With the likes of the RF602 you'd have a trigger on the main camera hotshoe (or use it handheld) and a receiver plugged into the remote port on the remote camera.

Thanks Flash.

Yes that was one of things I wanted to know. Can I use one of the transmitters handheld.

I am also curious as to whether you could for example hold down a button on the transeiver and get it to trigger the remote camera for continuous shooting.

e.g. if it was attached to a 1D MK III could I hold down a button on the transeiver and get it shoot at 10fps for a few seconds?

I'm not 100% sure on that point, it's not something I've actually tried. To clarify one point though, the RF602 isn't a transceiver, but has separate transmitter and receiver units.

I'm looking at the PW Multimaxes.

I have the YongNuo wireless shutter trigger and I can confirm it does do continuous shooting, I've just tried it. I'm happy with mine, it works great and less than £15.
The RF-602 also will work but the button protrudes above the body and is very easy to fire accidently, not very good if the camera is set to continuous shutter.

Big money! I'm using the YongNuo's and haven't had a problem...Kieranmcmanus sold his PW Plus II's and is now also using the YongNuo.

You will need a cable for the Multimaxes, and it's usually a pre-trigger cable which can be quite expensive...that keeps the camera thinking it's got a half-shutter press and keeps it awake.

try flashzebra.com if you go down the PW route...

I also use the YongNuo's and haven't had any problems with them.

The only thing that i have found to be a slight issue with them is that the transmitter has no way of securely tightening into the hot shoe like a flash does. So as a result it can easily be knocked off of the hot shoe.

Having said that it can also be an advantage at times, if i want to quickly swap the trigger onto my other body and the huge price difference means that i can live with it.

Another vote for the Yongnuos here too, not had a problem with em

Sorry to dig up an old thread here but having a bit of a problem getting my rf-602 to trigger remotely..

I've plugged in the cable to the d700 and press the fire button, the light turns from red to green when I do it but doesn't actually trigger the shutter, is there something I need to change in the settings?

do you use it as an alternitive to pocket wizzard if so could you let me have details of which model for a 1d mk2n and an importer if poss

It could be the receiver is kaput.

Can you fire a flash unit with it?

Yes, works fine for firing the flash off camera. Someone recommended I try fresh batteries so going to give that a go later, but would be weird as it works fine for firing the flash.

I would try the batteries first but the flash is triggered from the hotshoe rather than the cable so also check the cable connections and report back.

Yes and try pm'ing Flash In The Pan, he should have them in stock.

FiTP has stopped selling them. You want to have a look for Cotswold Camera on eBay. If you have any questions, give them a ring and ask for Trevor.

Just replaced both sets of batteries with brand new ones and checked the cable and it hasn't worked. It's still receiving the signal as it is changing from red to green when I press the trigger. Is there anything in the camera settings I should have to change?

Cheers

I have a faulty receiver the lights go from green to red but will not fire a flash or trigger a camera. Perhaps read this thread here or give Cowasaki a PM.

If it works with a flashgun, but not as a camera trigger then the problem is down to the cable - they are notoriously unreliable - this is why I only sold the RF-602 as a flash trigger, but offered the cables free of charge for anyone that wanted them, with the proviso that there was no guarantee that they would work....
