I've used Redmondpie in the past, if that helps. Only on secondary devices though, as not sure I trust opening up my phone.

I don't really bother these days, so not sure how good it is at the moment.

Well, I was hoping my comment might encourage you to rephrase the question ... in English. For instance, what is JB when it's at home? I presume that you know what it means but it doesn't necessarily follow that everyone else does. It means nothing to me and that prevents me from understanding the question.

When i see something i'm not sure of i normally leave it to the people that DO . Read the title there's a small hint to what JB might just mean ....;)

When I see something I'm not sure of I ask questions. From the title I can only surmise that you have escaped from prison and an iphone somehow proved useful in helping you abscond.
 
I thought there was ruling that jailbreaking is legal

edit: ruling in the states that jb is legal. No specific law in the UK to say it's illegal. It may affect warranty and break EULA however.

edit 2: I'm pretty sure the old forum rules were amended to say discussion was fine too based on the above.

You'll need TaiG jailbreak for 8.1.2,pangu only goes 8 and 8.1 I believe.
 
Not sure why anyone wants to jailbreak an iphone, if you're into messing with a phone's ROM image surely an Android phone would suit that purpose far better. Get the Google Nexus and play away to your hearts content and it didn't even break the warranty (y)

Sorry btw, never had an iphone so don't have a reason to know how to jailbreak them.

I hear this response so often when the conversation on jail broken phones is brought up.

Often when I ask "Do you know what a jailbreak is?" They just go "No but it's illegal."

I wish people would check facts before declaring some illegal.

Freedoms are and should always be residual.

TaiG works well on Ipad air 2 and Iphone 6.

I am a long-time iOS jailbreaker, I've jailbroken all my and family member's iOS devices from the original iPhone to latest iPad and Apple TV.

There's simply no reason not to! It makes the iOS so much better in every single way. Most of the additions you see in major iOS updates are ideas already implemented in previous iOS versions by jailbreak communities.

A few misconceptions:
- Jailbreak isn't illegal
- Jailbreak can easily be reversed, thus doesn't void warranty if you restore your phone before letting an Apple employee touch it.
- Jailbreak itself doesn't compromise your security
- Jailbreak itself is very very reliable. I've never had any problems with any of my jailbroken devices, I depend on them daily.

There's a small number of jailbreak tweaks that are vital to me:
- Change HOST file to block adverts
- iFile app to access any file on the device
- Activator. eg. scheduled mute, gradually shut off power hungry radios as device power drains, disable device shutdown slider on lock-screen so the device can't be turned off unless unlocked first)
- Wifi explorer. Anyone who've used Android will know how good this app is.
- CarrierNM changes carrier name, I can never understand why anyone would want to stare at those long carrier names all day
- CCSettings allows customised control centre switches, eg add LTE, VPN, remove airplane mode
- NoSlowAnimations is absolutely vital to make latest iOS feel fast, iOS 7 re-design feels slower compared to iOS 6.
 
sorry but i read that list and think "meh".

i dont think anyone NEEDS to jailbreak to be honest. seems like a very niche requirement to be honest.

yup thats fair enough :) i just dont see why so many people do it when there isnt much benefit for the average user.

i mean id consider myself a "power user" but my phone is just that. a phone with a few photo, social media and map apps on it.
 
If Apple released their phones open ( unlocked ) I think they'd sell a hell of a lot more, until you've jail broken your phone and tweaked it to your liking you won't see the point.
To the average phone user I agree its not a miss, but if you want that little bit more it's great.

As someone who uses both on a daily basis, I have found iOS to be more reliable than Android for years now (using predominantly high end Android as well). Not starting an argument, both have their pluses and minuses, but for pure outright reliability iOS wins out.

I have found the same, even when comparing jailbroke iOS vs vanilla android.

But truth be told, they are quite close in functionality and user experience IMHO. But apple vs windows, lets just say that the last Windows machine I bought with my own money was over a decade ago, and any work Windows machine I have has regularly been perilously close to being flung out of the nearest window!
