I'm looking to buy a refurbished or 2nd hand Macbook, preferably with 12gb RAM. I had my eye on one at CEX before Christmas but it's gone now. Are there any good companies out there who sells 2nd hand/refurbished ones? I checked with PC World and Currys but they only do up to 4gb. The reason I'm looking for one from a company is because I'd prefer to get a warranty with the purchase.

Jennings at York have refurbs sometimes. They are an authorised repairer so these are ones they have done themselves I think.

I wouldn't touch CEX with a barge pole Dawn, If you're looking to spend money on a Mac then you know you'll be paying a bit more but I would recommend a refurb from Apple - I believe you also get to extend with Apple care :)

Same here their prices are so close to new ones

You could put an wanted add up here :)

All in time, and don't abuse the rule as the Mods will find you ;) don't forget to check out AVForums' classifieds as well. Take your time and do the research as some people really don't know how to look after equipment!

Adding memory is easy on a iMac & cheaper to do yourself. Cost me £68 to increase mine by 8Gb last week

I got a refurbished one on Amazon in 2010.

I would whole heartedly recommend the apple refurb store on there website. Both of my macs are from there, iMac and MBP. Both machines came with a higher spec than advertised (more ram and bigger hdds) although that is obviously pure luck!

Get the same warranty as you would if you buy new, very quick shipping and the usual high level of apple support and service.

Definitely look at Apple's refurbs. They might cost a bit more than other sellers but they are effectively new with a full guarantee and can come with better specs, I bought an iMac with 8gb ram that came with 16gb, you save about 15% on the new price.
