What are peoples opinions on refurbished equipment? I'm thinking of
buying a refurbed 55-200 nikon lens on ebay. Indeed my D3000 is refurbed. Thoughts and experiences please!

If you're happy with your refurbed D300 then why not go for it, providing the saving is what you want?

I've bought loads of 2nd-hand stuff and plenty of refurb stuff over the years (lenses and Apple stuff) and have always been 100% happy with it :)

I think it all comes down to the seller, do you trust them?

I've never bought refurbished, but have bought loads of 2nd-hand, 3rd-hand, stuff from here and elsewhere. Have always been happy with what I've bought.

I make sure my purchases are from sellers I trust their rating and that they will post what I expect.

If you're happy with the sellar, does it come with a warrenty and with whom, is it a reasonable saving on a brand new one - if so, and as you've bought a recon D3000, then would have thought you'd be okay.

My first refurb purchase was last week, a canon 1000d. I've bought nearly all my cameras and lenses second hand and had no problems. The refurb camera however turned out to be faulty. Not a problem as it was bought from canon and will be returned, just annoying.

It comes with a 90 day warranty. Not very long or is that the norm? Anyway I think I'm going to go for it, I borrowed the same lens from a work colleague and decided I want one of my own!
