Refurbished 40D prices on ebay ?

Hi all. Ive been looking at the refurbished 40d's from the Canon Outlet on ebay, and they all seem to be going for arounf £460 +. This seems quite high to me, am I right in thinking this? Or is it worth paying a bit more for the year warrenty?
Any input would be greatly appreciated :) , or should I be looking at getting a d200 instead.......?
 
The Canon Outlet stuff goes for daft money, you'd be as well paying a wee bit more and buying new, rather than buying someone else's return. The D200 is an old camera now, you'd probably not find it a great deal better than your Sony iq-wise.
 
Advantages of buying from the outlet is the 12 month warrenty on it.
The down side is that people pay crazy prices on this stuff because of it.

If its an older camera like a 40D or original 5D then it might be worth it, if its a current line camera, it might be better to pay a few quid more like flash said and buy brand new
 
I agree... I nearly bought off there until I realised that Calumet also sell on ebay , new at near the same cost in some cases... I wouldnt buy off bay but ring them and say you want the same rate for ordering direct...

It is an older camera Im after, as I do have a limited budget, but want to get as much camera as I can for the money as this'll be the last body upgrade I'll be able to get for a while!
 
Maybe look in the forsale section on here, there are always really good prices here. It wont come with warrenty but you will get alot more for your money, maybe even more then you would think! :)

I got mine for £420 inc rmsd. Best bet is check ebay lists that list during the day. That way everyones at work, so there's less people to bid. As long as theres pictures and you seem happy then go with ebay. If it doesnt work they you can ge your money back in the long run, little insurance is better than none through ebay.
 
Agree about the Canon Outlet prices - always seem very high to me too - of the items I've followed (OK, maybe not a statistically significant number) I've never seen one good deal.
Be interesting to know if many people have?

If you're prepared to be patient and set yourself a hard limit, some of the outlet stuff does go for reasonable prices. Keep an eye out over Christmas especially as fewer people will be monitoring ebay auctions.

Also, keep an eye out for alternative bodies or combinations. 50D + 17-85 kits have been going for around £700 recently and you could sell the lens for £200, leaving you with a warrantied 50D for £500.

I've been considering this as an option too. I'd rather buy a refurbished model than take a chance on a body thats had thousands more clicks if it's only a saving of 30 odd quid.
 
I've watched those on ebay for months and never even bid, they always go for much more than I'm willing to pay. That said I keep missing stuff here too I'm not always around to see the ads. I just ordered new while the cashback offer is on and will look out for glass here.
