Following on from the rather smart Olly Trip posted on here I thought I would add a few refurb shots.

I have always had a weakness for XD7 / 11 and the leatherette always seems to shrink away from the edges on all but the very latest ones made.

This first one was my father's camera and has had new light seals and leather;

The leather was very thin which meant that it didn't sit proud of the edges but you can see a slight indentation where a screw recess sits on the front.

This one has a slightly thicker black lizard embossed leather;

And one I did for my brother's Christmas pressie this year;

That one might not be to everyone's taste but he loved it!

I like the black leather one...esp with the F1.4 lens

All good, but the red one is lush. I fancy doing my Trip like that.

Minolta did an anniversary XD11 in the late seventies where you could select a red lizard skin but I don't think it was quite that red!

I have bought another black XD11 and a dark red / burgundy coloured lizard emboss for it which I think will be the mutts - will post a photo once that one is fitted.

I like it, I might give Monica the Konica a new frock :eek:

They all look excellent. Great cameras the Minlota SLRs of that period. So good indeed that some of them say Leica on the pentaprism. You have a done a great job in revitalising these examples!

The link with Leica was very strong in the seventies and the Minolta XD7 and Leica R6 were designed with input from both. This is a shot of the bottom of an XD7 and an R6;

Legend has it that a couple of lenses designed by Minolta were almost rebadged for Leica's use around that time too.

Really like the red one, where can you buy these skins from?

Newbie here and not sure of posting links so apologies mods if this breaks any rules but I couldn't see any guidelines.

Top one in black leather came from a chap on ebay who supplied me with all the lightseal kits. His user name is "Camerasolutions".

The two embossed leather skins came from Aki Asahi here;

Hope that helps

The Minolta 35-70mm f3.5..so they say. I picked one up at the bootie for £5 and it's a good zoom.

You did better than me, I paid (I think) about £25 on fleabay some time ago. I don't usually like zooms but this is a great lens.

So, anybody going to hazard a guess which one is the Leica and which is the Minolta above?

There are two Minolta ver i.e. macro and non...They are the same optically, well so they say. Mine is the non macro.

I'd say the top pic is the R6.

so would I since I've seen the insides of an XD11 :naughty:

It was the R4 that first used the XD chassis by the way, and many of the Leica R lenses have Minolta input, from design to whole sub assemblies and glass.

Mine is the macro Brian.

And yes, Leica is the top one - the Minolta doesnt have the three pin contact (for Leica's motor wind?).
